Results Page Display

LearnDash quizzes come with powerful settings that let you control access, progression, restrictions, and how results are displayed. These options help you design quizzes that are fair, engaging, and aligned with your course strategy.

Quiz Access Settings

  • Quiz Release Schedule
    • By default, quizzes are available immediately.
    • You can “drip” release quizzes based on enrollment date or set a specific release date.
  • Quiz Prerequisite
    • Require learners to pass another quiz before accessing the current one.
    • Useful for creating progressive learning paths.
  • Allowed Users
    • Restrict access to registered users only.
    • Especially useful when embedding quizzes via shortcodes outside of courses or for open courses where quizzes should remain restricted.

Progression and Restriction Settings

  • Passing Score
    • Default is 80%, but this can be adjusted.
  • Quiz Certificate
    • Award a certificate upon passing.
    • You can set a different percentage threshold for earning the certificate than the passing score.
  • Enable Quiz Saving
    • Allows learners to save progress in longer quizzes and return later.
    • Without it, quizzes must be completed in one sitting.
  • Restrict Quiz Retakes
    • Default: unlimited attempts.
    • Limit retries (e.g., 5 attempts).
    • Restrictions can apply to registered users only, anonymous users only, or everyone.
    • Reset retakes manually:
      • Anonymous users: reset via button.
      • Registered users: delete failed attempts from their WordPress profile.
  • Question Completion
    • Enforce completion of all questions before submission.
    • Recommended to ensure accurate scoring.
  • Time Limit
    • Set a countdown (e.g., 15 minutes).
    • The quiz auto-submits once time expires.
    • Unanswered questions receive zero points.

Display and Content Options

  • Question Overview Table
    • Displays: current question, marked questions, answered/incorrect answers, and a summary button.
  • Custom Question Ordering
    • Default: follow the order set in the builder.
    • Other options:
      • Sort by category.
      • Randomize order.
      • Random subset of questions (e.g., show 30 out of 52).
  • Additional Question Options
    • Question Position: Displays “Question X of Y.”
    • Question Numbering: Sequential numbering.
    • Question Category: Displays question category.
    • Point Value: Shows points per question.
    • Number Answers: Numbers the answer choices.
  • Quiz Title
    • Optionally display the quiz title throughout the quiz.

Results Page Display Options

  • Results Message
    • Add a custom results message to display upon completion.
  • Graduation Messages
    • Create different messages based on score ranges.
    • Example: Learners scoring above 75% see one message, while those below see another.
  • Restart Quiz Button
    • Enabled by default.
    • Can be toggled off to remove it.
  • Custom Results Display Options
    • Number of Correct Answers: Show how many were correct.
    • Time Spent: Display how long the quiz took.
    • Overall Score: Show points earned, total points, and percentage.
    • Average Score / Category Score: Optional additional stats.
    • View Questions Button: Lets learners review all quiz questions with correct/incorrect status and custom feedback.
  • Custom Answer Feedback
    • Provide specific messages for correct and incorrect answers.
    • Show answer marks if desired.

Why This Matters

Together, these settings allow you to design quizzes that:

  • Control access and enforce prerequisites.
  • Manage learner progression and retakes.
  • Customize the learner’s quiz-taking experience.
  • Deliver meaningful, tailored feedback on results.

Tip: Combine drip release, prerequisites, randomized questions, and graduation messages to create a professional assessment flow that reinforces learning and keeps learners motivated.
