Lesson 3: How to Use the Course Creation Wizard

The Course Creation Wizard makes it easy to publish a full course in minutes by pulling in content from a YouTube playlist, Vimeo showcase, or Wistia project URL. This tool automatically creates lessons based on your video content—complete with titles, descriptions, and embedded videos.

Creating a Course from a YouTube Playlist

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, go to LearnDash LMS > Courses.
  2. Click “Create from Video Playlist” in the top-right corner.
  3. Paste the URL from your YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia playlist.

Each video in the playlist will automatically import as its own lesson, using:

  • The video title as the lesson title
  • The video description as the lesson description
  • The video itself embedded directly into the lesson

For example, a YouTube playlist titled Basic Spanish 1 with 107 videos will automatically generate a course titled Basic Spanish 1 containing 107 lessons.

Finalizing Your Course

After loading your playlist:

  • Review the course title and access settings (open, free, buy now, recurring, or closed).
  • Choose your course progression (linear or free-form).
  • Click Create Course.

The new course will appear in your Courses area. From there, you can:

  • Edit course details (title, description, images).
  • Open the Course Builder to rearrange or remove lessons.
  • Update access rules or progression settings.

Once you’ve reviewed and customized the content, click Update—and your course is ready to go live.

Why This Matters

The Course Creation Wizard is a huge time-saver for educators who already have video content. Instead of manually creating each lesson, you can generate a complete course structure in seconds and then customize it to match your teaching goals.

Tip: Use this feature to quickly repurpose existing YouTube or Vimeo playlists into professional, structured courses.
