Lesson 2: How to Set Up Quizzes
Quizzes are a powerful way to assess knowledge and engage learners. In this lesson, we’ll walk through the process of creating a quiz from scratch using the LearnDash Quiz Builder.
Creating a New Quiz
- From your WordPress dashboard, go to LearnDash LMS > Quizzes.
- Click Add New.
- Add a Quiz Title and, if desired, a Quiz Description. This content appears before learners start the quiz.
- Click Publish to save the quiz.
Using the Quiz Builder
The Quiz Builder works similarly to the Course Builder. To add your first question:
- Click New Question.
- Enter a Question Title.
- For clarity, it’s best to use specific titles rather than generic ones like “Question 1.”
- Click Add Question.
You’ll now see the new question listed with a red exclamation icon—indicating it’s incomplete.
Configuring the Question
- Point Value: By default, each question is worth one point. Click the pencil icon to adjust.
- Question Type: Choose from:
- Single Choice (default)
- Multiple Choice
- Free Choice
- Sorting
- Matrix Sorting
- Fill in the Blank
- Assessment
- Essay/Open Answer
- Question Text: Click the pencil icon to enter your question content.
- Answers:
- Click the pencil icon to add the first answer option.
- Use Add New to add additional options.
- Select the correct answer.
- For Single Choice questions, only one answer can be correct.
- Question Settings (Optional):
- Add custom feedback for correct and incorrect answers.
- Provide a solution hint to guide learners.
Click Save when finished.
Adding More Questions
To add additional questions, simply click New Question and repeat the process.
