Embed a PDF File

In this video, the instructor walks through how to let visitors download a PDF or other files directly from your WordPress page using the File block.

1. Adding the File Block

• Click the Add Block button where you want the file to appear.
• Search for and select the File block.
• Drag and drop your file (e.g., a PDF) into the block, or upload it manually.

Example: A PDF catalog of “Stellar Widgets” is uploaded.

2. What Happens Automatically

• The file is uploaded to your Media Library.
• WordPress creates:
  • A text link (file name)
  • A Download button — both of which let users download the file.

3. Formatting & Display Options

• Align the file block (left, center, right, wide, or full width).
• Replace the file at any time by selecting a new one from the Media Library or uploading a new file.
• Edit the file’s title, caption, and description from the Media Library.

4. File Block Settings

• Link behavior:
  • Default: Direct download of the file
  • Optional: Redirect to a separate attachment page (not recommended for downloads)
• Open in a new tab (optional)
• Hide the download button, if you prefer to show only the text link

5. File Types

• Not limited to PDFs — you can use the File block to link to any type of downloadable file.
