Dashboard Overview: Challenge Exams, Coupons, Assignments, Design, Reports, Add-ons, & Settings
This final section of the dashboard walkthrough introduces additional tools and settings that help you personalize, monetize, and manage your LearnDash site more effectively.
Challenge Exams
Challenge Exams allow learners to test out of a course by proving their knowledge upfront. For example:
- If you offer both a Basic and an Intermediate Spanish course, you can set up a Challenge Exam for the Basic course.
- Learners who pass can skip directly to the Intermediate level, saving time and improving the learning experience.
Coupons
The Coupons tab becomes available when LearnDash registration is enabled. Once set up, you can:
- Create discount codes for specific users.
- Offer promotions or group discounts to drive enrollments.
Assignments
Assignments let learners upload files in response to a lesson or topic. This feature is ideal for:
- Checking learner comprehension through written work or projects.
- Allowing instructors to review and manually grade submissions.
Design
The Design tab provides access to pre-designed starter templates to help you:
- Quickly launch a professional-looking site.
- Customize your course layout with ease—no design skills needed.
Reports
LearnDash includes two built-in reports for tracking learner activity:
- Course Data Report: View user progress through courses.
- Quiz Data Report: See quiz performance metrics.
Both reports can be exported as CSV files.
For advanced reporting, consider using the ProPanel Premium Add-on.
Add-ons
This tab is your gateway to expanding LearnDash functionality. From here, you can:
- Install and activate official add-ons like Course Grid, Certificate Builder, Achievements, and Notifications.
- Instantly enhance your learning site with new features—no custom code required.
Settings
This is where you manage all global LearnDash settings. It’s recommended that you:
- Visit this tab right after installing LearnDash.
- Review each section including General, Registration, and Payments to configure your site properly from the start.
Why This Matters
These tools go beyond course creation—they empower you to build a more personalized, flexible, and professional learning environment that scales with your needs.
Tip: Start with the Settings tab to set a strong foundation, then use add-ons and challenge exams to expand what your LMS can do for both you and your learners.
