Day One: Foundations

We will assemble a solid theme and plugin stack for a WordPress starter site that you can use as the basis for all of your future development.

  • We will create a WordPress install and explore the wp-config file
  • We will consider theme options for our base theme
  • We will consider recommended plugins for our starter site
  • We will create a custom functions plugin with helpful code snippets

Day Two: Build

We will use Beaver Builder and Beaver Themer to create a basic content structure for our starter website.

  • We will create header and footer structures
  • We will diuscuss whether to use the theme’s own header and footer or use Beaver Themer to customize them
  • We will design a basic home page template
  • We will create commonly used content pages
  • We will create a custom 404 page and a search results page using Beaver Themer
  • We will package the starter site for deployment
  • We will consider a checklist for deploying and customizing the starter website for each client project
  • We will consider a strategy for dealing with Gutenberg
  • We will examine ways to optimize website speed when using Beaver Builder

Day Three: Customize and Launch

We will leverage the power of Beaver Themer and Pods to create customized content and prepare the site for management by a client.

  • We will create a staff listing using Pods and Beaver Themer’s
  • We will examine Beaver Themer’s conditional logic
  • We will use Pods and Beaver Themer to create nonstandard content to display on the front end of the website (if time)
  • We will consider a strategy for client access and streamline the WP Admin area
  • We will add a Dashboard Help Widget for client support
  • We will create a Dashboard Help Widget powered by Beaver Builder
  • We will consider a checklist for launching the website
