What's everybody working on?\r\n\r\nnews letters sued death by solid backups\r\n\r\nyeah\r\n\r\nall right. We've got about four minutes or so before we get started. Only three questions. Only three questions today. So if you have a question you want to ask Wow, there's a lot of time might be the shortest Office Hours yet yes. And two of them are bins Yeah. Don't know. I'm trying to think of if I've got something I can show you all today. I don't know that I have anything interesting to show you\r\n\r\nall right. So as you're coming into zoom, say howdy. Yeah, plenty of space. Like there's only three questions today. So lots of space for questions. Yeah, so ask them or it might be a very short office hours. Hey, Bonnie.\r\n\r\nWelcome Welcome, everybody. Glad you're here. We are about three minutes away from getting started. I mean, you can sue that. There is a lot of there's a lot of stuff going on with the dropbox API. So ask about it. Yeah. I'm not sure if it's directly related to backups or not, but it has made my life really difficult lately. Not regarding solid backups.\r\n\r\nNo, I don't think we're experiencing many failures. What's your Well, it's good to ask you this. Question because we need those today. hinwil, we'll talk about it. So linked to ask questions is there in the chat? Please make use of that for there are only three questions in the list. Today. That's a that's not a lot. So I'll talk really lowly today. Hope you've all had a good week. Wow. Really? Beth? No kidding let's see either really good or really bad Alright folks, yeah, two minutes to go Welcome. Welcome. Glad you're all here as the Zoom chat is starting to fill up. Am I doing something on Cloudflare says so Yeah, probably. I'm looking at that maybe for April. March the march event will be amber Hines talking about accessibility which is going to be fun. Fabulous. And yeah, still on the I need to present her for Cloudflare I don't have a good presenter for who I am. I am out. Like I don't know what happened with our original presenter. But yeah, but Cloudflare Yes, that's something that I've kind of charted out an outline for. Rodolfo who is Rodolfo Tania\r\n\r\nOh, business bloomer. No, I've heard of that. I don't know where dasa may that's that's a good that's a good lead. Yeah, I'm sorry about the weird training. I really like it was last minute. I it was unavoidable. And I mean, I know a little bit about WooCommerce but not enough to do anything advanced. So that was kind of a bummer. Yeah, no, been right. So let's Yeah, so I mean, what we can do today for sure at the beginning is brainstorm some training topics again? Yeah, if you have questions to ask, we are looking for questions today. The link is in the chat. Currently. Still just three questions. So you're not going to put in your backups question. They're going to get that in the queue. And we definitely are you're typing. Yeah, so we definitely need questions today. Definitely, definitely need the questions. Alright, folks, it's three minutes after so let's get started. Welcome to office hours here on solid Academy. My name is Nathan Ingram. I am the host here of solid Academy and every What is it Thursday? Yes, Thursdays. You get to drop into my office and ask whatever you would like to ask. Only a few questions today. So just the three. The link is in the chat if you have questions to answer to ask please do so. And yes, thank you, Beth. Happy Leap Day. Happy Leap Day. This doesn't happen very often. Right. So just just a few questions at this point. So I think we were having a little chat before I in the pre show just about some of the upcoming premium events. And I am always open to suggestions there. Something that was talked about at the beginning was Cloudflare and I've actually sort of charted out a course outline on that already. And I'm trying to pull that up if I can get it pulled up here and notion I will share that and see if y'all like the direction this is going because we're really like I'm I'm struggling for. We're struggling for questions today. So let's see. Come on. Training ideas. Loud. We're all right. Now can I get this in its own separate window. I'm still learning notion. I really like it a lot. But there are some things about it that I don't fully understand yet. Open in a New Window. That's what I mean. I don't want my all my stuff to show up on the air. That's what I want. Okay. So this is kind of what I'm, I don't think there's anything here I don't want you to see. Yeah, okay. So this is sort of my working outline and there's a new section here. Which I'm just starting to work on. Yeah, training in notion, right. So, this is sort of the outline that I'm thinking about. What is you know, walk through the different sections, the my checklist and you know, for setting up Cloudflare and the process for that. How to migrate to Cloudflare some additional Cloudflare features demark some very important tips. Maybe get into some DNS stuff. But yeah, and then I'll share some WAF rules. I don't know that we've we've dealt with a lot of these things in office hours and so forth, but this is sort of all in one spot. Does this sound interesting? Would you like that and like this is not a rhetorical question. Give me like a vote. Do you care about this or not? And if you don't care about this, then tell me because it no judgment judgment free zone if this is not for you say probably not for me. That's fine. Yeah, so I just I'm trying to figure out what to do. So it looks like a pretty good bit of Yups. Okay, so yeah, well, we'll look into that. Do you have an opening in April that I need to fill so Cloudflare for dummies? Okay, right. I don't know about that. But, okay, so I will I will start moving forward seriously on that and preparing. Okay, we're up to six questions that makes me feel better. Y'all are alive and kicking out there. So please do use that link in the chat to ask your questions.\r\n\r\nYeah, so yeah, good. Getting private messages. That's okay. All right. Let's get started. And then we'll see where we go. First up is Ben. Ben. Ben. Let's see. This Ben Bradley. All right, Ben. Hey, Nathan. I've had a potential client confirmed their existing website is on Wix, but was moved to HubSpot. After some restarts on HubSpot, it appears they mean they're hosting on HubSpot. Yeah. So no, no. So you can't host a well. My understanding is you can't host some other site. On HubSpot. They have their own internal proprietary site builder. That is not as good as Wix as I understand it. They're developing it actively. They're like they want to be your one spot deal. So yeah, so I don't think you can host a Wix site on HubSpot because Wix has its own. There's you know, it has its own code, their code and stuff that hooks into forums and does all their stuff. I don't think you can host a Wix a site designed on Wix and HubSpot and maybe, that whatever company they brought in, replicated the Wix site in the HubSpot platform. The site would be built from scratch. Yeah, they would have to be done so. So what you're talking about Ben is taking the site which is currently in HubSpot and moving that into WordPress, is that right? Okay, good. So, you would do this you know, how to do this export the structure Screaming Frog, etc. So looking at I mean, so the first thing I would do if I'm presented with a site that's built in something different, is yeah, I'm gonna get a URL structure with a tool like Screaming Frog or we use a tool called Visual sitemaps. Just to get that list of everything that's on the site. And from that, then we can build out okay, what functionality is involved and what needs to be created? From the front end? Are there any assets that we can grab? You know, are there background images and other pictures and text and copy and all the copy? Is the copy going to change? Are there SVG icons and things we could snag off the front end and just pull all that down and then go about your business of rebuilding it? Yeah. I don't know that Wix has any sort of export. Anybody I have not ever in my whole life worked with Wix. Yeah, I don't think they export. You could, if you have I was assuming you don't have access to the back end. Then. If you can get into HubSpot and download, if they've got whatever their version of the Media Library is, if you can download the assets from there probably be a little quicker. Yeah, there's scraping apps like Melanie has mentioned. That's also a possibility. I mean, to be honest, if it was me, I would probably build them side by side and just pull over the assets for every page as I'm building it. I think it will just go more quickly that way. Any other advice for Ben on this? Rings? Don't let friends do Wix. Wix is a little it's a little clunky. It's not nearly as friendly as Squarespace the Squarespace UI is pretty darn nice. I gotta say. If you haven't played with that lately, it is pretty darn nice. Yeah All right. We'll have fun with that. Ben, that sounds like a joy. All right. Next up is also Ben. This is a smiley face that didn't convert. Okay. GPT were a company that is now worth billions many billions. They still don't seem to be able to send a monthly invoice and I have to find it buried in the My Plan selection. Wow. Okay, so then you need this for tax purposes or something. I don't worry about those invoices. My accountant doesn't require them if it's like a subscription like that. Yeah, so I don't get him by email. Does anybody get invoices from chat GPT or open AI? Yeah. I'm sitting here, more and more companies, especially us based companies. Don't send those invoices by email. It's just not as much of a thing here. I know that it's more of a deal. More of an important thing in other countries. But yeah, it's not just open AI. It's it's many, many companies don't just send a an invoice. Yeah. Sad. Yeah. Ah, huh.\r\n\r\nYou could ask, that's really all you could do. It's a pain. It really is a pain, right? This is the sort of thing that I don't think I would waste time doing every month. I might do it once a quarter just schedule it as a task once every six months or something to just go out there and download those invoices. We're not going anywhere. So it's not something that waste time on every month unless you have to for some reason. So you'll you'll it'll take you a lot less time overall if you do that in no one like even just make start making a list of invoices to go grab at tax time. Right? If you're just dealing with taxes on an annual basis, and I'm not been I'm not familiar with the intricacies of UK taxes. But you know, if it was me and I had to once a year it's got to, you know, whatever, then I would go probably do that once a year. Just so every I mean it takes not too much longer to download a whole bunch of them than it does just to go in there. And download one and the disruption that causes I'd probably try to cluster those tasks together. Yeah. Oh, you have to do monthly bookkeeping. Well, that stinks. Yeah. There's no way around it unfortunately. I wonder. Wonder if there's a bot you could create then there's a bunch of low code bots and services. I can try to think of what one of them is called. But you can create a little like a your own little bot that goes out and clicks you know, it's like a pre programmed click List of clicks and then click the invoice and download it to someplace you might be able to automate it that way if it if it's bugging you. Oh, let's make your own invoice and change the date. Oh, Paul, wonder who your soulmate is gonna be okay. All right. Yeah, sorry, Ben. Wish we had better answers for you. Okie dokie. All right. We got a bunch of questions now. Thank you all for that. Next up is Tanya. Hey, Tanya, are you here? Oh, sorry. Yeah. Hey, Tanya. Here. Okay, here we go. Is there any way the Academy can keep the Register link on live streams that are several days? Really, if you forget to register or don't get the Zoom link, there's no way to join or attend a class that has started really\r\n\r\nwell, that is what we call a bug. And I think I understand why that might be happening. Yes, interesting. I wonder if that's an events calendar thing or if that's something that me and Chris did thing\r\n\r\nsave it there isn't there is on the event on the left side. I have done that.\r\n\r\nSo you're saying the join button is not present after the event has started? Or the signup link? Really? Oh, I'm sorry about that. Okay. I'm gonna guess that's probably our fault. Like our meaning me. That's, yeah, okay. We need to get into that then. And all the time. We have right now. Okay. So I will note that as an issue, and we'll see how complicated that is to fix. We should totally blame Chris. Since he's not here. Chris is doing a course right now. And he's not going to be in live streams for several weeks. So that's, this is the perfect opportunity. Just blame Chris. They'll love that. They'll feel free to email him, you know, harassing them. Yeah. So y'all, I'm sorry. Ultimately, that's my oversight, although nobody else in QA caught it either. So bummer. Right. And that sucks. I am really, really sorry. And we'll see what we can do to get that dealt with right away. My problem is we are I am currently let's take a quick poll. How many of you just give me the busyness scale. Are you not busy, regular busy or busier than normal? Like regular busy, not busy, busier than normal. busier regular busier regular mega busy. Regular regular super see I'm hearing a lot more of a busier than normal crazy busy from people. And we're that way like right now. Our agency work. I am. Yeah, we've taken on too much work. And yeah, interesting. Well, first of all, I'm glad those of you that are busy are busy. And it does impact a lot of things. So that said in the context of Wow. I'm not sure even when we could get that sorted out with the academy but I know it's important. I want to get that done for you guys. So let's see what it's going to take. I think we're going to launch one of these projects that's on our plate early next week. So we'll see if we can get that sorted out because that's weird, and it needs to be fixed. Also, sign up early, just go ahead and sign up for everything. That's the immediate, you know, one of the immediate things you can do and it's kind of an A, but just as soon as the course hits sign up for it. Yeah, Tanya. So, y'all, this is built on the events calendar. And you would not believe the gymnastics we had to go through to get this all these custom fields and layouts working inside the events calendar. And if you've never worked with the events calendar, you might have a small understanding of that. Oh my gosh, it was hard. The hardest thing we've ever done the hardest thing. So there's 8000 things that might be causing this bug. So yeah. So my advice to you is right now, go sign up for the accessibility Crash Course. I know that doesn't help and it needs to be fixed. But for the moment the workaround is sign up right away for everything. Just sign up. Yeah. So weird. Oh, okay. Hang on. So Sadie, you're saying this register now. You can do you can do that. When classes in progress\r\n\r\nYeah, I don't know about that. See? Where are you seeing? 4pm Eastern? It's 1pm This would be 4pm Eastern it'd be two to four Eastern the button is missing. Okay, let's just troubleshoot our, our whole thing here. Alright, so here's the currently. So for this office hours, you can register. But it may be different for a multi day event. Yeah, I was just at office. hours for today, right here. And I can register\r\n\r\nYeah, I think it's only on the multi day events. So clearly, clearly this is an issue and it needs to be resolved. For the moment. Please. Please try to read this register early. I know that's ultimately needs to be fixed. I get it. Okay. I am seriously sorry for anybody that did not get to attend the content workshop live because of that. I will take responsibility for it because it ultimately was my fault. But we're also going to blame it on Chris. Okay, Sue, is that next Okay. Here's all the things. All right. So, routine failures to send backups to Dropbox. I've done what they suggest in troubleshooting. I've deleted the destination, put them back in again. Then I tried to manually send the backup that fails to when I test it. It says the destination is successful. I'm pasting a typical error message. Okay, so sue, let me ask you a couple of questions. Do you have your backup settings open in front of you? And if not, could you do that really quickly? The first question is, does the backup complete like you can see the backup in the backup list. It does complete Okay good. That means your action schedulers humming and everything's working great. In your backup settings, let's go down to like a destinations. Do you got the chunks turned on? Is that oh, let me Well Hang on. Let me add Dropbox. Oh, also su are you using the v2 or the v3 Dropbox? That's your problem. Use v2. Always use v2. version three of the dropbox API is flaky. It's weird. And v2 works. I know. I know. It's been that way though. So 100% b two, I think. Yeah, let me let me just connect this up really quickly. And then we'll get to some of the settings, Dropbox. Now. Dropbox, the dropbox API sucks. Like I said it. It sucks. It is. It sucks. Dropbox it so like I I had my whole world nice and optimized with Zapier. automations, moving zoom calls and all that stuff. And all of that broke. All of that broke because Dropbox zoom and Dropbox couldn't get along or something happened with the API. And then there's no longer zoom Dropbox integration. They didn't tell anybody. They just stopped it. And there's all sorts of issues with the dropbox API in general. So go to v2 and I set my chunks at 200. And we it just works. Try this and see if it doesn't work for you see also yes, so this is the destination. Let me go back to where that let me add the destination. First so you can see where I'm at. All right, so I'm at destinations. Drop Box in the gear and\r\n\r\nscroll down under Advanced Options. Make your chunks about 200. And it should do that like that's it works. At is default out of moving up to 200. That's going to send more in each burst and it it seems to work better that way.\r\n\r\nWhat gives an error\r\n\r\nYeah, change it to 200 and see if it doesn't if it doesn't fix\r\n\r\nvalidation failure on 200 is outside the set bounds. What version of how is that even possible? Am I not on the late maybe I'm gonna know it's active. What version of solid backups are you on? I'm on 9.1 dot nine su Are you in version two of Dropbox or version three? Yeah, get rid of three you got to set up in destination. Delete that v3 destination and set up a v2 destination. Set your chunks for 200 That's that's your issue. Try that and see if it doesn't work.\r\n\r\nYep, so try that soon and we'll come back to you\r\n\r\nOkay, next up is Billy. All right. Billy. I've got a client directory where I want to use a map to define regions. Oh, man. I'm literally doing the same thing. Specifically regions in Newfoundland and Labrador. Static but interactive in the sense that each defined region has a link to directory listings. Any suggestions? Why yes, I do. And let me go remember what that was. Hang on. I got a really sweet little plugin. So let me just ask while I'm trying to log in here. This is Billy this you want? Do you want pins on the map or just click on that region and it goes somewhere\r\n\r\nYeah, hang on, man. I got a great plugin for it. We've actually done this and plugin round up a million years ago. I've just got to remember what it's called. This will take me just a moment because I'm actually logging into a client site at the moment and try to remember what this plugin is called. Yes, you gotta love it. While I'm doing this, does anybody? Yeah, colors. Yeah. Does anybody have suggestions? There it is. What is it called? You got suggestions that you've used for Billy please do that in the chat. Now. I'm almost about to remember what this is probably. Here it is.\r\n\r\nInteractive geo maps. Please tell me it's been updated recently. Yes. All right, this, this is what I'm using. And because we're all aware of session cookies, I need to log out of my client site. Because that's what we do. We're good stewards of our WordPress and we are going to take a look at this plugin. So what this is gonna let you do, it's all vector maps. It's really, really nice. And there's a lot of free options here. Where you can do county maps, area maps, whatever. There can be tooltips really cool. Let's do well, let's just say we'll just use the state map this looks like New York.\r\n\r\nAnd each of these can also be clickable to\r\n\r\nthe admin demo so you can see what it looks like\r\n\r\nwe're spinning up a lab sandbox. Isn't that nice? Okay, let's make a map. Well that's pretty cool. Canada and we want are there Let's see, do you so are you looking for both forgotten which provinces? Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador. Do you want them next to each other or does it doesn't matter. Like here's Newfoundland, right here, right? And then from here, you can change your borders and so forth. It's pretty nice. You can also add regions\r\n\r\nhere's this division six, and you can set the color for that. See how that works. Fill Color and all that. Really neat. You just stack those up? Yep, so this is a really cool yeah, I dropped the Lincoln Yeah. So there's a pro version. I don't think you'll need it for this. It's a really great Matt. We've been using it for quite a while it's SVG. It runs pretty quickly. On the front end. So we like it. It's pretty nifty. It's been Labrador is a place. All right. That Are you good there Billy. All right. Any other nuance to that question that I missed?\r\n\r\nAll right. So how are we doing back with our backups? Running now okay, I'll check back in after the next question. Kim. Kim is up next. Hey, Kim. All right, since we have a time when conducting a website redesign what is the suggested best practice for moving content? Oh, great question. Keeping in mind that I would like to minimize the broken links in the world. And should I be thinking about retaining link views from Google? 100%? Yeah. So at the beginning of every project, you ought to have a content phase. And that's not just generating content, especially if it's a new its existing site and it's just getting polished or whatever. But even if it's a brand new site the first like, part A of phase one, which is the content phase is content architecture. And it's during that phase that we want to go through and create a sitemap and define what all the pages are and what the the URLs are going to be and what's going to be on that page in whatever. And if you have a an existing site, and that's where you decide, does this go away? What does it redirect to all of it just put all that together at the beginning, when you're planning the new site, does that make sense? And that way, you know, if you do it all on a sheet, then at the end of it, you can actually create a CSV dump that has your old URL, new URL, and just import that into a redirection plugin. When you're ready to launch so you don't lose any. You don't get any fluorophores from the old content. So that is that's the way I would do it. Like that's like the quick explanation of it. Is there any part of that that you don't want to talk about more?\r\n\r\nHow long do you leave the old site up? Oh, so is this replacing the old site on the same domain? Okay, so I would leave so. I'm not totally sure I understand your question. The old site stays up while you're developing the new site. And in the new site at launch, you'll just import all the URLs that need to be redirected. You know, like if, if on the original site, the contact page is whatever.com\/contact-us and on the new site is just slash contact. Well on the new site in the redirection plug in, you're gonna want to have a redirect from contact us to contact so you don't get any broken links. But yeah, that's, that's how I would do it. And so I always just create a big master spreadsheet at the beginning of this is my current content. And this is my new content. And there's a great plugin, by the way, which I've talked about before, but I shall mention again, if I can remember the name, I think it's called export all URLs. I'll recognize the icon and the author if it shows up. This is it. It's by Atlas. This plugin is sweet. I use this for every existing WordPress site that we're going to rebuild. And what this does believe it or not, is it exports all your URLs? Isn't that brilliant? So what this lets you do is you can export just a certain post type if you want so like you can work with posts or pages separately. Let's just say I want to export all my pages. Do I don't care about the post id I do want the title. I do want the URL. I don't care about really any of this other stuff for this purpose. I want only things that are published and I want to export a CSV to boom I export this now I know you can use like Screaming Frog or whatever. But look, this gives me a direct output from the site itself in the spreadsheet, which is slowly opening now in Excel, which Excel is the slowest piece of computer software to start ever. It's all bugs me Okay, and here's our CSV so I got my title and my URL. And so I would alkalis old URL, new URL, and I'll probably put a column in here and it's like status, and I usually do this in a Google sheet. And I'll create a drop down in each of those set like format those cells with a drop down, where it's like, keep, replace, delete, right? So you know, you put your like here's shop, okay, that's going to be store on the next side, right? In my status will be replays and so what I'll do is on the next tab, I'll pull in everything from the first tab statuses replays and I want old URL new URL, I can export that as a CSV and import it into redirection. So that's this is the really quick way of how I do it. And it's really helpful if you have a ton of content, just pull it straight out of this plugin. Kind of nice that I give you the I didn't give you the URL\r\n\r\nhere it is. It's the one with papyrus font. Not only that's just for you, it's the one with Papyrus. Fought in the hero. Y'all Melanie loves Papyrus, loves it, loves it loves it loves it. Somewhere in Georgia, Melanie is rolling her eyes at me okay. Okay, so is that good? You get on that Kim? Great question. Oh, Beth, you have no idea. You just have no idea. All right.\r\n\r\nOh, Melanie dropped off. She didn't even hear my joke. Oh, bummer. Okay. Backup ran successfully. Good. And so who was it earlier Sadie said that the v3 that worked for you right or pardon me? Be two with that setting worked. For you Right. Was it Sadie that said that you're having that same problem? I don't know. Maybe I'm okay. Good. Awesome. Okie dokie. Tanya, you are up next. Okay, Tanya, by the way. Yeah. And that was an awesome question. And you prefaced it with. Since we have time like this is the kind of question to ask every office hours. It's awesome. I love to talk about process things like this. So anytime you have questions like this, always ask them it's a it's a good discussion. And there will be other people who likely benefit from it besides you. For sure. I'm not doing calculus, Paul. Oh, my degree is in Bible and theology. I don't add numbers very well. So yeah. Anyway, okay. Right now it's very different. Okay. So who is this Tanya? Tanya is next. I use a Kadence starter template for the first time this week and notice that he has an h six tag, really? For the little text above the titles and H twos. That should be a no no. So it's this one. Wonder if this is one of the early templates.\r\n\r\nAh, I think this is an old Yeah, I think this is an old Kadence template. Like is this an h six is what we're talking about. Yeah, look at that. That's that's a no no, you shouldn't do that. Yeah. So this is not awesome. Yeah, we have real problem with our our semantic order of headings throughout this site. So that that's an issue. I think this is this is true of some of the really older Kadence starter templates. The newer ones are much better and more semantic, semantically structured with your H tags. So yeah, it's just you are correct in that that should not be done like this. You should and the rule is never ever, ever use an H tag for typography. And Tanya, I don't know how you tell what's new and what's old. So this is something I would report to the Kadence team if I were you. I don't know how many how much resources they have to devote to clean up old templates like this, but it's not awesome. And you know, Ben is pretty pretty focused on accessibility. This one just got by him. I think it because it's this not awesome. Never ever, ever use h tags for typography. Which is what's happened here. This should be a P with a class on it. Never No, never ever. Sue. Are you mocking me in the chat? Oh, you're curious. No. So never ever use h tags for typography purposes. Like some people will change it. Well, I don't know that's an h2 and it should be semantically h2 is the next. Oh, okay. When do we need to elaborate on this? Okay. All right. Let me talk about Oh, I see what you're saying. Okay, I think we have a terminology disconnect. When I'm saying don't use h tags for typography. I don't mean so typography is not structure. Typography is font color weight. Right? That technically, Typography is the font face, the font size, the font color, the font style. And that's what people tend to do, like in their theme. They don't they don't like the h2 tag is the h2 is what is supposed to be there because it's the next H tag. But some the user will say well, I don't like how big that is. So I'm going to make an h4 to like how big that is. That's using an H tag for typography. So the fix for that is we style our H tags appropriately so they're not too big. So typography. Don't use an H tag for typography. It is for semantic document. Structure is what it's for. Thank you. Yeah, Stacy headings can have typography that's what font weight font style font family are associated with the h tag. But don't use a an H tag only because it looks right in that location. Yeah. Did that clear up all the things man? Well, that was like a linguistic disconnect. Yes, H tags are for content, content. Architecture. There's a different word content I mean, it's the semantic structure of content. Anyhow, okay, now that I've confused everybody, let's move on. Ah, Sue, how are we doing? How's our backup doing? Structure, Billy, that's the word I was looking for. Didn't work\r\n\r\nnobody make a gift out of that. Okay. Awesome. Happy Dance. How about that? All right. That is the closest you'll ever see me dancing in my life. That right there. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So that is those are the settings that I've recommended for years and they've just always worked for me. The times when it didn't work is in that launch time of solid backups where the action scheduler got all gummed up. And are we're through that really hard phase on all our sites. Our backups are working wonderfully now. So Oh, follow up question was up there. The site so h2 and h3 Yeah. So you would do it like this. So your h1 is usually your page title. And then you'll have an h2 and then under that if there's a sub topic could be an h3 and another h3, maybe an h4 under that one. But then you'd go back to an h2 If it's the next big title. So they they it's hierarchical. Underneath each one. Does that make sense? Yeah. Good. All right. Hey, for our office hours that started out with only three questions. This has gotten pretty interesting, hasn't it? Oh, Paul, accidentally just I lost your question, Paul. Hang on just a minute. I'm gonna go find your question. Here it is. Okay, oh, oh, it's an update from the last no never whenever on purpose Paul comm update from last time the error logs on several sites had huge files. Do the message like disallow file at it? Yep. Because there were two disallow file edits. Right. Oh, you still Oh, that's right. We went through this and there were only one right I'm still not sure what caused this double I deactivated all plugins is still happen. The activating salts Security does not move. It's entry in the config file though, right because I think only deleting solid security in the plugin deletion process. It cleans up the WP config. I'm just monitoring each size with a new plugin. When the error log is over certain size I get an email. What size threshold would you think is a good size? I mean, that's a good question. Maybe a meg, maybe less maybe 500k Something like that. It really, I don't really want a big error log at all. Do you have a bunch of errors in there? As I'm thinking about this out loud, maybe 100k. It depends on if you want all alerts or not.\r\n\r\nWell, okay, so think about this. Here's the error log. I don't know how many characters that is. I'm gonna guess if 60 characters or so. So an error log of 100k would be 100,000 characters, or if this will just say it's 100 for you know, for the sake of round numbers, if this if this error warning is 100 characters long, then it would be 1000 of those in your error log before we hit 100k.\r\n\r\nYeah, so you know if you're monitoring it Paul, I would set it relatively low. To be honest. If it was me otherwise, it'll be a while before you see it. i Yeah, I've had those logs that are gigantic like that, too. Yeah. But if you're watching for it, you're you're not talking about across all your sites, right? You're setting that individually on one site that you're monitoring. I would say that pretty small. That way you get told when it's a thing when you know it's starting to hit\r\n\r\nall right. Next up is Beth. This is both a question and a PSA. I've been paying $29 a month for Google Drive and unlimited extensions for all in one or the Google Drive and unlimited. Apparently, they changed their pricing to $99 a year for that bundle but didn't inform me. Ouch. They've offered me a one month refunded by by the year. Oh boy. I would. Okay, so it doesn't hurt to ask right, Beth? that would that would kind of burn me up a little bit too. I mean, granted, okay. Chat poll. How many of you would be aggravated it like shouldn't let me is it the plugin developers responsibility to inform every one of their clients if they enact a price change that's advantageous to the customer? Should the plugin developer do that proactively? What do you think?\r\n\r\nYeah, I think so too. So I would push it back and look, I've been a customer for whatever. At the minimum, I would ask for a year free at the minimum, I would ask for more than that. Just say look, I've been a good customer. I've been plugging your plugin to my group, blah, blah, blah. And this really, this really is frustrating that you've had this thing and, you know, you've allowed me to continue to pay more than I should have been paying. And it's not like it was, you know, you're paying $29 a month so that's $360 a year. So you're paying more than three times what you should have. Now if it was like, you know, you're doing something that was like $120 a year you're paying and there was a deal for 99 If you pay all at once, I mean, I wouldn't be as upset you wouldn't probably be as upset about that. But this is significant. Yeah. Yeah, I would ask for more. Go get them Beth. Let us know. All right, Stacy. Stacy. See? All right. Since you're low on questions, this week, do you know of anyone who does Zapier setups, I met someone at a networking meeting and they asked me if I did Zapier, I've dabbled in it but not to the point that I feel comfortable charging. Oh Stacy, you will love Zapier. Hang on a minute. I think I've got a link for you. Let's see if it works. Yes. Okay. So this is what you want Stacy, go here. It is an affiliate link. earn me a couple bucks but this course taught me Zapier. I love it. So this is Jimmy rose. He's the guy that wrote content snare a million years ago, and he's got this awesome course that taught me everything I need to know about Zapier. I think I paid $200 for it, and it's down to 99 now and it is really really worth it. Okay. The core i mean it it takes you from what is Zapier to some really complicated, like I do some really sweet things with Zapier and it's all because I learned it from here. So Stacy, I think you would love this. Just knowing like the stuff you like, you would love Zapier and for 100 bucks, it's totally worth it. Yeah, so the thing about and I've thought about this also, like could I create a built for you Zapier service. The problem is, like, there is it's really hard to develop systems with setting up zaps because there's it's just trial and error. Like it's just your it's the sort of thing where you start it and you kind of build it as you go. And then you know, it works. It doesn't work. You got to test this thing or do this thing or whatever. And eventually you'll figure out the right way to set it up. So yeah, hey, like I think you'd really like this. For those of you asking like Zapier like bid integrations are like uncanny Automator sort of bit and uncanny or WordPress based. This is the internet like Zapier is digital duct tape that puts all kinds of services together with via their API's. And I mean, they see if it I mean they've stopped even listing because there's so many, virtually any service you can think of is in Zapier and it just works.\r\n\r\nYeah\r\n\r\npretty cool. Yeah, so make is also an option. It used to be called Integra mat, that they've changed it. Thankfully over to make.com. It is similar. It's a little more developer free. Zapier has gotten a lot more. It's a lot less developer free than it used to be. And it's the Zapier even has now an AI where you can just tell it in human language what you want it to do, and it sort of gets it started for you and then you kind of go refine it from there. It's really, really good. I pay like $70 a month to Zapier and I don't regret it at all. It is it saves me so much time, except for now my Zoom. Things are broken. But yeah. Yep, so these are awesome. Stacy, check it out, just in the course. There's probably a few hours of content in there. I mean, it goes it's pretty deep. But he starts you off like at a really high level. And then gets down into nitty gritty things. There's also a Facebook group. And there's still people in there talking about stuff and troubleshooting. That's where I went when I had my problem with this zoom integration that I had through Zapier. So give that a whirl.\r\n\r\nPut it in as a question Sue. Well, we'll get to it. We got to there's only three more questions and we got a little bit of time okay. All right, next up is Ben. Ben. Have I tested postmark demark digests? I have not I've looked at it. But to be honest, I don't think you need to pay for this. What I'm testing right now is actually the Cloudflare tool. It is free and it works quite well. Stacy, you've done a lot of demark stuff. Why don't you come on and do a live stream and talk about like the comparisons and stuff you want to do that. Not not put any pressure on you on in a live event? Yeah, you. You got a great post. You unpacked it all. You've tested the tools. Who wants to see Stacy I've heard Stacy speak at a work camp and she was quite good. Hey, Stacy, shoot me an email. Let's talk about it. Seriously, I think it'd be fun, because there's still questions about this and the tools that are out there. So yeah, so Ben, I haven't tested this. I'm focusing on the cloud FLIR reports right now, and they seem to be pretty good. I did also buy that app sumo tool, the demark reports Tool, and I'm probably going to refund that because I think I like Cloudflare Can you just use the Marco Cloudflare? Yeah, so like, look here, you want to see how easy it is to set up? demark in Cloudflare. Watch this. It's nuts. Now this is assuming of course that you have DNS running through Cloudflare. Okay, if you have DNS running through Cloudflare Watch how easy this is. We're going to set up demark on WP Nathan in one. All right, so we're in WP Nathan. We're gonna go to email. You'd keep the lifetime deal. Okay, so Stacy, this is why you need to come do a thing. All right. demark. Enable. There's the record generated, which is the P equals none. An ad that just made me compliant with all of the Google and Yahoo stuff. Now the reporting Well, I think what Stacy's is what you're saying the reporting in Cloudflare is more basic then the demark reports tool.\r\n\r\nSo it takes about a day for the stuff to fill up. But yeah, I now have a demark record and I'm compliant. So if you're running, if you're using Cloudflare for your client sites, like I've recommended, and you want to get them over this Google Yahoo Apokolips for demark, you can just go in and set that record up. And that P equals none as the recommended if you don't want to get into the details of demark and you just want to be compliant. That should be all you need. As long as of course your DKIM and your SPF records are set up and correct already. We're gonna assume that's the case. But it's super fast. Anyway, Ben, we kind of hijacked that discussion. Are you is that make sense Ben.\r\n\r\nSo we should get Stacy back on to talk about this\r\n\r\nall right, Stacy, seriously, shoot me an email if you're interested. Nope. I mean, no pressure. If you if you're not then, but I mean, I've heard you speak at work camp. You were quite good. All right. Tammy is next. What is your preferred plugin for woo sales tax and shipping WooCommerce. It does it all out of the box. You need no extra plugins for this. So depending on if you want live rates or not. Do you need live shipping rates Tammy or is it gonna be a flat rate shipping\r\n\r\nI would encourage you to do flat rate shipping. Oh live rates really? Ah Are you going to ship USPS or do you need ups?\r\n\r\nOh a special carrier. Yeah. So that's going to be complicated. I would encourage you, I think we've talked about this at some point in the past. I would encourage you to try to figure out flat rate shipping. It's just going to make your life easier. Because yeah, the large canvas things there's you're not going to be able to do live rates for that. And so, you know, those, that's where it's gonna get complicated. And you may actually have to build shipping separately or something like that. That's going to be complicated. For a lot so let's just say it's a large canvas and you're gonna box it, then. UPS is probably your lowest cost for that. And there is I don't like the WooCommerce. Official WooCommerce us UPS plugin. I can't remember the name of the one that we use. Maybe this one, I think, yeah, it's this one. But check this one out. I don't think you'll need the pro version for this. But you'll need you know, you got to plug in your UPS API and all that but this is much better. I think then the core official WooCommerce UPS plugin. Free Shipping as much as possible. Tax. So Tammy setting up tax and WooCommerce you should. You will only have to chart. Okay. You should check with your accountant because I'm not an accountant. Disclaimer disclaimer. But as I understand that, you should probably have to collect only three types of tax write in your state, in your county, in your city. So if somebody is in your city, then you got to collect all three if they're in your county, you got to collect state and county if they're in your state you got to collect state, anybody else outside your state? No tax, right? And that's really easy to set up just in standard WooCommerce. And you probably know what those percentages are right. So, if I set well like here, here it is right here. So it's already set up the way I would do it. So here's the state. Here's my county. Here's my city. And I don't know what this was for. Oh, this was a Alright, so this is how it would set up here. And what I did was I went out and got a list of all the zip codes that are in the county that I live in, and that's what's here. If it's in the state of Alabama, it gets this rate and it's compound meaning they stack on top of each other. That shouldn't be checked. So all these compound meaning it's not one or the other, they add so if you meet any of these criteria, then it adds that rate right. So state, county city that makes sense. I mean, it's really it's not that hard to do.\r\n\r\nTanya so it goes by shipping so if someone outside your state buys it, but shifts to someone inside your state you have to pay the tax. Okay, great question. You can set that here under tax options. Do I want to I calculate tax based on my address, the customer billing or customer shipping and I don't know that's an accounting question. I actually think it's the billing address, not the shipping address that you calculate tax on. So well Tanya, the reason that Amazon and Walmart have to collect tax is because of what's called Nexus. If they have a physical location in a state you have to collect sales tax there. So because there's Walmart's everywhere they collect tax everywhere, but in this case is just Tammy and her place. And Oklahoma and she doesn't have nexus in any other states. Tammy except for your summer home in the Florida Keys get to collect tax there. Yeah. All right. That good. Oh my gosh. The questions are stacking up. Okay. Sue you have a password protected page, not a post. Can I schedule it to open close in WordPress like I can a post What do you mean open close to like turn it into a draft Oh, publish. Oh, can you schedule I don't think you can schedule a page to publish.\r\n\r\nIn core WordPress, what you're going to want to do is add a plugin called publish press future. I love love this plugin. It used to be called post expert writer published press future. My buddy Steve Berg's that owns publish presser is one of the partners that publish press. They do really great work\r\n\r\nso here this will let you publish and unpublish everything. So I think there are a future. It does put its own top level menu. Where are my settings? You can do Cloudflare doesn't like that. There we go. The you got a bunch of options here. And you can choose to have it active on only certain post types. So right now it's active on pages and posts only. But you can turn it on for more. So here in Pages let's just go to All Pages. Take a page any page. Over here on the side you have Elvis press future so I can enable a future action on this post. So what I wanted to do I want to change it to something or whatever here. I want to change it to draft at 207 on March the seventh, right? And then it's scheduled. Good to go. Oh, okay, so it's currently password protected and you want to remove the password. Now you're making things difficult. Alright, let's do password protected with a password right? Yeah. Okay, so it's password protected. Actually, I don't know if that's gonna work and publish press. No, it won't remove password protection. So that will work. It can, it can unpublish but it can't change. Maybe the pro version does that\r\n\r\nyeah, that doesn't work. And I'm not sure of a way to\r\n\r\nYeah, so you could I'm not sure what all you're saying there. See, I don't I don't quite follow. Remove the password. Then do publish press an application from three one to 331 and they have to have a password to access it during that period\r\n\r\noh it's password protected now just because it's published. Okay. Yes. So in that case, take your password off. And just turn it in. Just make it going to be public. Let's save that. We're actually going to I mean, it's up here. Let's see. They moved this Where is it now? Oh, got it. It's out. Now. Are you into a draft is up here somewhere.\r\n\r\nOh, here it is switch to draft. So we'll draft this page. And then at this time\r\n\r\nNo, actually, Sue I'm sorry. You can schedule a post to be published or a page to be published right here\r\n\r\nyeah, you can schedule it to be published. Just like a post. No, this is core WordPress. I'm sorry. What published press is good ad is unpublishing something so you can schedule it here look to go live. So, you know, it's currently scheduled to publish on April the third or what was what was your actual dates? Three one to 331 So let's just actually do that. So three, one, it's going to publish, right. And then future you can change it to draft on 331 at whatever time and then you're good it'll automatically unpublish at that time. Does that make sense?\r\n\r\nGood. All right. Let's turn after folks. And we ended up with more questions. Let's see. I don't know how quick are these questions? Yeah, I'll catch these other questions. Next week. Thanks for all the questions, folks. Good stuff. Let's see if there's anything anything here urgent Kim has an account question can let me answer your account question as best I can. And will save the other ones for next week. All right. Yeah, am I iThemes Training solid Academy currently I have the I think subscription that will renew expired next month.
