The Nexcess Content Delivery Network (CDN) improves the speed and performance of your website by caching your content on servers located closer to your visitors. While this service is integrated into your hosting environment, it is subject to specific usage limits and overage fees.

This article explains the current billing policy for the Nexcess CDN and guides you through checking your current bandwidth usage in the Nexcess Client Portal.

Nexcess CDN overage billing policy

All Nexcess customers receive a generous monthly allowance of CDN bandwidth to support their websites. If your site’s traffic exceeds this allowance, overage fees will apply.

  • Free Tier Limit: Every customer is allotted 250 GB of Nexcess CDN bandwidth per month, free of charge.
  • Overage Fee: If your usage exceeds the 250 GB monthly limit, you will be billed $0.10 per GB for the additional bandwidth used.

This billing policy ensures fair usage and helps maintain optimal performance across the network for all clients.

How to check for overages in the client portal

You can easily monitor your CDN bandwidth consumption directly from your Nexcess Client Portal. Checking this regularly helps you anticipate potential overages before your billing cycle ends.

Follow these steps to view your current usage:

  1. Log in to the Portal: Log in to my.nexcess.net.
  2. Navigate to Plans: From the main dashboard, select Plans in the left-hand menu.
  3. Select Your Plan: Locate the hosting plan you wish to check and click on the plan name to enter the plan dashboard.
  4. Open the Performance Tab: In the plan dashboard menu, click on the Performance tab.
  5. View CDN Usage: Look for the section labeled CDN Usage & Billing Information.
    • Here, you will see a graph or data summary displaying your current bandwidth usage for the month.
    • Compare your total used GB against the 250 GB free tier limit to determine if you are approaching or have exceeded the threshold.
