Getting Started with Dedicated Servers

Liquid Web offers exclusive dedicated servers with enhanced security and stability. Choose from Bare Metal, Cloud Metal, or custom Traditional options.

Dedicated servers are servers that exist exclusively on hardware for a single client. Liquid Web offers a number of different options that are hosted on dedicated hardware.

Bare Metal servers are dedicated, physical servers that are provisioned automatically, making them quickly available for customer use. Because of the automation, there are a limited number of options available for these servers compared to traditional dedicated servers.

Cloud metal servers are also dedicated servers, but they have a virtualized layer on the dedicated hardware. Only a single customer can use the hardware, but the virtualization layer allows for more flexibility in configuration.

Traditional dedicated servers are custom built to order by our skilled technicians. Because they are custom built, traditional dedicated servers can take a few days to fully set up, but they are very customizable to match customers needs. Because there are so many different options with traditional dedicated servers, these are normally ordered with the help of our expert Sales Team.

No matter which type of dedicated server you choose, you can be confident that the isolated nature of the hardware will result in increased stability and security compared to shared hosting options. Now, lets get started using your dedicated server.

Credentials

All dedicated servers will come with randomly generated login credentials. You will receive a Secure Note in your Liquid Web account with your login credentials once the server has been provisioned and is available for your use.

Accessing your server

You can access your dedicated server using either SSH (Linux) or RDP (Windows). If you have trouble accessing your server directly with one of the previous methods, you can use the Console available in your Liquid Web account to access the server. This tool is useful if there are firewall issues or some other communication problems between your office and your server. The console provides the same functionality as if you were physically working at the server itself.
