How to create a subdomain with SiteWorx

Use SiteWorx to create a subdomain.

Use the below method if you want the subdomain to use a directory separate from that of the main domain. You may create this subdomain from the SiteWorx control panel, which will create a folder at /home/username/example.com/html/.

A subdomain will share the web root, or document root, with the main domain. The vhost file for the main domain will then translate this into the subdomain as subdomain.example.com. This in turn allows the subdomain to duplicate the main domain’s server configurations and SSLs.

Step by step instructions

  1. Log in to your SiteWorx account.
    • If you do not know your password, click Forgot your password on the login page.
  2. On the main menu, click Hosting Features > Domains > Subdomain.
  3. In the Subdomain field, type your subdomain name. Click Add when ready.
