John Regino - Helpful Human
“We have some of the most passionate and talented individuals handling customer issues with great care.”

Meet John Regino

John Regino has always had an interest in technology. After initially going to school for nursing, Regino was employed by LUV Airline for eight years when he felt he needed a more challenging role that fulfilled his passion for technology. As a result, he was hired by the Rackspace email team in 2010, where he leveraged his service skills and found a passion for leadership.

Born, raised, and currently residing in San Antonio, Texas, he owns five cats (Terry, Spaghetti, Mongie, Garbagio, and Jacks), a dog, and is father to a daughter, Mea Lynn. John joined Liquid Web in October of 2021 as a Support Supervisor.

Why did you join Liquid Web?

At the time, I had completed two years as an Operations Manager with a BPO company. I loved the company and team I worked for but was unfulfilled in my role. As an Operations Manager, I was responsible for managing the operations side and did not have much time to engage with the support teams. Then, an opportunity presented itself to join the Liquid Web family and work again with one of my mentors, Terry Dolliver. The company’s core values align with mine, and this was my way back into the tech industry.

What draws you to the hosting industry as a career?

I am a problem solver at heart. My passion for technology and problem-solving is fulfilled in the hosting industry.

Is there something specific about Liquid Web you just love?

The support teams at Liquid Web are passionate and hard-working. As each day passes, I’m grateful to be able to get to know more members of the incredible support teams.

What’s your favorite part about the company culture at Liquid Web?

My favorite part of the company’s culture is to have fun and not take ourselves too seriously. I host weekly trivia with our 3rd shift support teams. Winners get sent a prize that aligns with the trivia topic.

In your eyes, what’s the difference between Liquid Web and other employers?

We are empowered to be creative and make decisions. But, most of all, we’re encouraged to not be afraid to make mistakes.

What is the biggest milestone you’ve accomplished?

In my first year with the company, one of my most significant milestones was contributing to the creation of an engaging environment for our 3rd shift support team.

Tell us about an amazing customer experience you have had at Liquid Web.

One company I have an opportunity to engage with daily is Topps, a trading card company. I grew up collecting their baseball cards, so I feel honored to work with them to address their issues and assist in resolving anything that comes up.

What are you known for at Liquid Web? What do people specifically come to you for?

I’m very approachable. Techs reach out to me for various reasons- password resets, time adjustments, customer escalations, and hand-off issues, to name a few. Of course, some things are not in my wheelhouse, but I always do my best to point them in the right direction.

What is one thing you wish our customers knew about their hosting?

We have some of the most passionate and talented individuals handling customer issues with great care.

What is your nickname at Liquid Web and why?

Most people address me by my last name, Regino. My nickname as a kid was Bud, after John Travolta’s character in the movie Urban Cowboy.

Work aside, what are some of your hobbies?

I am a collector of all things. From action figures to Funko pops, artwork (most music-related), and Hot Wheels, to name a few. I am also a builder of Legos. I have over 50 Lego sets, and I’m still counting. I hope to be a Lego master builder one day.

What is your favorite TV show?

This one is a bit hard as I have a few favorites. The one show I have watched the most and still continue to watch is “The Office.”

What is your favorite app?

The app I find myself on the most is TikTok. I love that the algorithm feeds your likes, and I love the creativity of many of the creators.

If you could have dinner with one famous person [dead or alive], who would it be?

This one is easy. Keanu Reeves. Outside of being an accomplished actor, he embodies great qualities. Despite all the loss he has experienced through the years, he remains humble and kind. The real question would be what to talk about….

You can find John at LinkedIn.
We hope you enjoyed our series, and stay tuned for the next Helpful Human profile.
