This year so far has been an exciting year for .NET Developers at Cloud Sites by Rackspace. As a commitment to our customers, we have listened to the feedback, and we are here with new offerings and support abilities like never before. Whether you are launching a short-term high traffic event or developing new or legacy applications, we are dedicated to empowering our .NET developers. Here are a few projects we have been developing in effort to best serve all of our customers.
Released Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2
With the release of Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 you have the ability to develop with the latest set of technologies like MVC 5, WebAPI 2, and SignalR 2 in addition to being able to run the latest versions of popular CMS like DNN, and Umbraco. You also enjoy improved application start up, proper IE 11 detection, as well as a longer service life for your application. With Windows Server 2012 R2 you’ll also gain access to improved parallel computing features, Asynchronous handlers, and model binding to web forms. We also provide legacy application support such as classic ASP (Active Server Pages), and .NET 2.0 applications as long as they’re configured to work with .NET 3.5 SP1.
Announced Support of .NET 4.5.1 & Full Trust
In this new support offering, you now have the ability to do automatic binding redirection for assemblies and improved garbage collection, in addition to having a new set of methods for collecting diagnostics of your application here in Cloud Sites. And finally, you’ve been asking for it and we listened. We’re happy to announce full trust support for any .NET 4.5.1 web site. This is an opt in feature, which means, by default all sites provisioned are still provisioned against our Modified Medium Trust however you can enable full trust by setting a value in your web.config like the following: <system.web> <trust level=”Full” /> </system.web> We’ve worked closely with Microsoft to make this happen and are happy to provide you another tool to develop powerful applications here in Cloud Sites.
Announced Support of Openstack .Net SDK
Lastly, we support the Openstack .Net SDK on any .NET 4.0/4.5.1 Site. The Openstack .Net SDK is an SDK written for the Microsoft .NET platform, designed to enable developers to seamlessly work with the many services provided by the Openstack cloud operating system. At Cloud Sites, we take customer feedback very seriously. We are proud to announce all of these new offerings to you all, and highly encourage any and all feedback. Our goal is to progressively better our services to continue to be exactly what our customers deserve, the very best.
