CGI Retirement

We are providing advance notice of the retirement of the CGI servers on Cloud Sites. The Cloud Sites CGI servers will be retired at the end of Q2 2015 in order to maintain the integrity of our systems.

As part of ongoing audits, our internal security team identified that CGI scripts being passed over HTTP(S) traffic increase the possibility of malicious action, to include CMS exploitation. And, to protect you as a customer and the health of our infrastructure, we are asking customers to find alternatives to CGI ahead of this decommissioning.

Depending on your website’s CGI integration, this retirement may cause site downtime, so we suggest testing prior to this event. And, as an alternative, customers will maintain the ability to execute scripts through our CRON servers, including PERL or python.
