Come on in and find a spot. We'll get started here in about four minutes. Howdy, howdy. Welcome welcome. Alright, captions should be working for everybody now.\r\n\r\nAll right, looks like we have 10 questions in the queue for today.\r\n\r\nApple leftover from last week\r\n\r\nit triggers a security warning Paul.\r\n\r\nDid you put code into the submission?\r\n\r\nIf there was code in the form data, maybe that's what it was.\r\n\r\nYeah, it probably was triggering that code, which is weird, but I don't know maybe change something to something else and try to I don't know what that filter is. It's not coming from me. Coming from somebody higher up another one of those security measures they put in place Alright, welcome, everybody. Glad you're here. We're about two and a half minutes away from getting started. There's still space to ask questions if you'd like to do so. The link is in the chat.\r\n\r\nspace for several more questions if you've got them. All right. So what do you been working on this week? Let me hear from you in the chat. What has occupied your attention I got it. Beth. Thank you. All right, y'all two minutes to go. Again, still space to ask some questions. Apparently if you put Can you paste the yes paste the air and slack ball?\r\n\r\nAll right, all right. Welcome. Welcome everybody\r\n\r\nall right, many things, many things. Okay, there is the error. I see it Paul. Thank you very much. Oh, yeah, that probably would have triggered a bunch of stuff. That looks like a hacker be hacking. Yes, yes. That's probably why this forum pushed it back. Alright folks, just about to get started. If you have a question to ask. There's still space to do so use the link in the chat which is about to go back in. Hey, there's David Johnson. Everybody say hi, today, David. Back from an excellent live stream yesterday with Timothy talking all about trusted devices. Paul, you are only talking to hosts and panelists, which I gotta be honest. Some people may prefer it you know in the chat, but that's you know. Fall it had to be done right. Okay. All right. Let's get started. Well, happy Thursday, everybody. Welcome to office hours here on solid Academy. My name is Nathan Ingram. I'm the host here at solid Academy and it's the day where you get to ask whatever you would like and there are many questions in the queue. Currently 11 Already in the list and if you have a question you want to ask, go ahead and get it in using the link in the chat. Just don't submit code like Paul did an error message or the form police will come to your house apparently. So there you go. All right. Before we get started, I want to mention a a live stream that we just got scheduled because all of us very successfully last week. twisted the arm of one Stacey Clements who is here in the chat today. And Stacey is going to know where are you Stacy? Oh, that's because I'm looking on the wrong thing. Here we go. Alright, so we have Stacey scheduled for the 13th. So one week from yesterday. Stacey is going to be doing this practical guide to demark reporting with much fanfare from the solid membership. So if you haven't gotten to register for this, by all means do so. Stacy is going to be awesome here because she has done a lot of testing with these different demark reporting options. So this is going to be a hands on look at all these options. So we had a great webinar several weeks ago with Matt Pritchard from sin WP. He gave us kind of the big picture view of all these records in the alphabet soup that's involved in making your email delivered correctly. Stacy has done the practical work as an agency owner of playing with different demark reporting tools and getting those things things set up correctly. And you've probably seen evidence of that by her very intelligent answers to those questions in the chat, which is cool. And so she's gonna come talk about it. So make sure you are registered for this one. It's gonna be a lot of fun. Okey dokey. Well, let's get started with our questions, shall we? Yeah, great. Stacy. If if you have questions, great invitation, if you have questions that you would like Stacy to deal with a great spot to do that. To to feed back to Stacey is the solid Academy slack group. And if you are not a member of the solid Academy slack group, let me drop in right here. The link to join. It is right there. Make sure you've joined that one. That's where everybody's hanging out after we close the fly slack group. Everybody is here so it's a good spot to collaborate. You can direct message each other and so you can ping Stacy and one of those channels or direct message her directly there in the solid Academy slack and let her know what you would like for her to cover. All right, well, let's get started with our first question which is a hold over from last week. This one is from Tanya. Tanya, let me know if you got an answer to this one already. This is from last week and Tanya asks, Facebook is ditching the messenger chat plugin. Do you have any recommendations for a chat plugin? I have a client moving in from Wix and they had that feature turned on there and want to have it again. Okay. So Tanya, are you you're speaking specifically to the widget in that Facebook had for a while. A WordPress plugin that would allow the Facebook Messenger to have a little chat pop up. Is that it? Right? That is an excellent question. I did hear that they were retiring that one and I don't know of anything else that is going to do that. My guess is that the Wix version is probably going to be going away soon. as well. i My suspicion is that Facebook is trying to push as many people over to their platform natively as possible and they're not as interested in giving you website access to those things. So I don't have a solution. Does anybody there in the audience today? Have you looked at replacing? Are you using the Facebook chat plugin, and have you looked at replacing it? I have not seen anything other than talk several months ago that it might be going away. Anybody have any suggestions there for Tanya? They absolutely want the Facebook one. Is that right? Facebook is becoming more and more of they don't they just want a chat bot it doesn't have to be Facebook. Am I right? Oh, they just want a chat box. Oh, got it. Okay. So yes, there are a number of different chat options for WordPress. Now, do they want a bot or do they want something that's going to send them messages they can reply to\r\n\r\nlet them Okay, so they want to while they're sitting at work, have messages come in that they can immediately Okay, let them directly interact. Okay, so there's a few things out there. Mini chat has been mentioning is a really good option. There's also one that is called shoot. WP chat let's see WP live chat I think it was called. So there isn't there is an option called Live Chat. This is the sort of thing by the way that you don't want to run this internally to WordPress. This 100% needs to be a SASS like this live chat.com That just embeds its own little widget on the site. If you don't want to try it. This doesn't need to be like a piece of WordPress software plug in other than to embed this external service. So I would look at I've heard good things about what the option that been recommended many chat. I've also heard good things about the link I just dropped in with live chat. There's a bunch of options and to be honest there. They're very similar, all of them out there. What you'll want to make sure of is how does the client want to interact? Do they want to have an app on their phone? Do they want it you know, the pop up in software on their computer? So those are the things that will help you decide which of these options is the best. Most of them that are out there are very, very similar. They do very similar things. So at that point, it's about you know, what is the app look like? What is the UX like? What is the price and you know does that does it price it out of the client's ability to afford it? Yeah, so if I had to guess the Wix one is pretty basic. Yeah. All right. Anything else on that? LaTonya that gives you a couple of directions to go. Yeah, Doug, thanks for that. We. We did a story on that in last month's news roundup, where the Air Canada official chat bot on their website, which is AI powered, invented a refund policy that the courts said Air Canada had to offer. It's awesome. Love it. Anyway. Okay, next on the list is Doug This is also one that was leftover from last week. All right, Doug, still working on a looker studio issue. You're using the template that David Zimmerman gave us in last year's Google Analytics boot camp. Page two in this template is basically a copy of page one, except that it has a filter applied to each chart for organic search. Let's take a look at the basic template. Overall and then organic SEO Yep. My Page Two has errors for every chart. Does this mean I have no user acquisition, which are organic and the channel group. Okay. Yeah, it just means that you need to revisit. So Doug did you go in and reconnect each of these charts and or widgets, for lack of a better term? Did you reconnect those to their data sources? You did and you're not in you're getting an error.\r\n\r\nI mean, it could mean now so this this says it's not missing data. So it's likely not this explanation. It's likely that this is a settings error. So it doesn't have the right dimensions. It doesn't recognize the filters that have been added. I would really look at you know, what is pushing those pushing the data into these areas, and make sure that's connected again correctly. Read just start over again and reconnect each of these little widgets to your data sources. Now by the way, David does this. This is a copy of the looker studio he uses for his clients. And this is your big picture, but he's really his agency is focused on organic SEO, which is why that second page exists. And it's filtering out all all traffic versus organic traffic. Yeah. So the good the good news is Looker studio is not terribly complicated to set up and use. It's semi desktop publishing. And you can you can find templates to jump off from or just build something yourself pretty quickly. That gives you exactly what you want. We'll be spending a little more time this year when we come back around to Google Analytics as a course building out these Looker studio dashboards. Yeah, and there's so many so there's a good link there. There's so many free Looker dashboards that are out there. Yeah, nice. So many out there that you can use as inspiration. Or often just copy and use on your own. Oh, this one can switch to dark mode. That's cool. Yeah, Looker Studio is a really neat tool, especially if you like data visualization. It's just fun to play around in. It really helps though. If you have a site that has a semi at least medium level amount of traffic, because really low low traffic sites. It's hard to get good data visualization. Yeah. All righty. Well, thanks for that extra link there, Doug. All right. Next up is class Class. Are you here sir? Yes, you are. High class. Your high class. Okay. That was poor. All right. Class question about which headings should be h1 on the homepage. There's only one h1 per page. Okay. So this is a debated thing with SEOs. The prevailing opinion says you should only have one h1 And that should equal the page title. Although the page title can be different from the h1 and you could have different H ones. Choose your SEO and join the fight. Okay, anyway, however homepage is often start with a banner promo section that changes regularly yet the heading here is the first on the page. So should that be an h1? Or should you make a heading further down that stays on the page all the time? Be an h1 Which of the three circled headings should be a nice one. This is going to be a good discussion. Thanks for this one class. Okay. Great. All right. So on on the homepage. If it was me, so often, so I'm probably not gonna want this to be the h1. Okay. I'm probably so a lot of times I will even put the h1 in smaller typography here like in this identity area that has some of the it's more keyword focused like this is. I'm not even sure what this page is about. But you know, the ultimate guide for blah, blah, blah, and whatever, whatever. That's my h1. And it's in smaller text there but it's still the h1 and then there's some other text underneath it. I really don't even care if the user interacts with that. But that's what I would do as an h1 in this case, unless you can get good keyword content up here in the hero, which often you can't. Now here's the thing that's important to keep the page semantically correct. You don't want to have any headings up here before you hit your h1 here or here or here or whatever. You do not want to have an h2. Now you want to keep your headings semantically in order. So there are no h2 is above an h1. So your h1 needs to be the first heading on the page which tells me kind of needs to be closer up here. So all of this should just be text like if, for example, the h1 is going to be here. And this is just going to be text in a div or a paragraph or with span or whatever it is that you've typographically styled to look larger. Here's the super important thing that a lot of people miss. And I said it last week. I think we're talking about something similar. I said it last week, and I was misunderstood. And that is don't use headings H tags for typography. Typography being the size, color weight of fonts. That's not the job of the heading. The heading is there to organize text under sections, right? So don't use if your h1 text is styled this way. Then don't just make that the h1 because it's styled the way you want it to look. This should be regular text styled with a higher font size. Yeah, so Doug Correct. Put everything above the h1 is span or whatever. Yeah. So does that make sense? We kind of we got into this detailed conversation last week. Yeah, so this is great example of some information architecture on the homepage and how, you know, technical SEO on the homepage. What are the keywords you're shooting for? Those really ought to be in the h1 which should the h1 doesn't have to equal the page title also. Page Title is a heavy ranking factor. The h1 is a heavy ranking factor. They don't have to be the same. Some I've actually created a some page layouts for an SEO Pro that I work with. Where in a custom field on the page is alternate h1 text, and if that exists, it actually replaces on the page where the title would be. it overwrites the title from the WordPress page with the text in that custom fields and makes that the h1. Yeah. So you know, h1 doesn't have to equal page title. But you only you know, and it doesn't, you don't only have to have one h1. You just need to make sure that whatever you're doing, it's semantically arranged think bullet points. You know, you got one bullet and a bullet under that and a bullet under that. You don't start with the third level bullet All right, and muddy the waters or made them clearer. No, no. Gotta go it could go either way. Faster, you good. Okay. Excellent. All right. Next up, also class. Here we go. All righty. We'll just set up and start using Yoast on a dev site. A dev site shouldn't show up in searches. So it's behind my private site. Yep. The box not to have it indexes checked in Yoast doesn't get activated until the site launches. But that means the Yoast fields don't show up on the pages and posts and don't get filled which makes me think that I should have Yoast active during development. So the SEO metadata gets created at cetera, et cetera. Otherwise, yep. Okay, what do you say? Yes. So yo stays active. For me. This is me personally, okay. Yoast is always active. Because, you know, there's little things like if you create a custom post type, or if you create a custom taxonomy or whatever, you need to go into Yoast and decide should it show on the front should it not only should it show in the sitemap or should it not? All those things need to be decided? And yeah, I have Yoast open the whole time. There's really no reason and protect if the site's behind the login wall as you're developing it hear, for example, with my private site, there's really no reason not to have Yoast active, not hurting anything. So yeah, I keep it active the whole time. Class, is there a nuance of this question? That you would like me to get into deeper or is that pretty much it?\r\n\r\nYep, good. All right. Moving right along, Karen. Karen, are you here? I do not see Karen in the chat. All right. Any idea of what the new magnifying glass is? Yes. All WooCommerce product images did they add it? On the last update? All right. So Oh.\r\n\r\nAnybody else ever seen this? I have never seen that. That is Karen what we call broken. Something is not working. I don't know what it is. That's really weird. It's almost like I mean, what I want to know what theme this is. Because it's almost like Ash. Gosh, it's almost like the theme wants to overlay a zoom in icon over the image. Yeah, like Tonya is describing, but it's gotten blown up big at the top. Yeah, this is what we call him. The South broke. Bad broke. So wow, that's a small one on yours too. Wow, that is awesome. So what I can tell you is this, the design language that this icon is speaking and this one that is not coming from core WooCommerce This is likely a theme or a plugin. And something is weird. So yeah, Tanya icon is from the 90s. So Karen, if you were here, I tried to get a URL from you and inspect it. But this might best guess for you and hopefully you can see it on the replay is this is coming from a theme or a plugin that you've added and they've done something and it's causing this to happen. It's very odd and it's not WooCommerce proper. So hopefully that gives you a path to start following. All right, next up is the one and only awesome, Paul. All right, Mr. Paul, what we got here today. All right, looking. Something is up with a site redesign. The characters are wacky. Take a take a look at the time this was published. Oh, look at that. That's awesome. I think I know what this is. And there's more. We're looking at the published page we see this\r\n\r\nwhat what is wrong? Is it the underlying Oh, the next 1010 Yeah, I need to keep reading don't i? So on the front end, you see this on the back? Okay. This is let me ask you, Paul, did you change the database? character set from like UTF eight to UTF eight and before or backwards? I bet you did. Is this a situation where perhaps you add an old site and you you change that the WP config to make it neater and cleaner with some of the things we did on Starter Site? Because this character in particular, whatever this Yep, those characters generally happen when the database character set is incorrect. So take a look at your character set and change it. If it's it's probably set to UTF eight. Wait. It's probably set to UTF eight and it needs to be UTF eight and before or if it's the other way, switch it back and see if that doesn't solve the problem. Also, if it doesn't then just jump into better search replace and search for that character combination. And delete it. But yeah, it's most likely a it's that defined character set equals thing in the WP config that's causing that yeah, so give that a try. I betcha that solves the problem. I've had that happen too. And it's annoying. All right, next up is Beth Livingston. We haven't had a dancing Beth for a while. We're gonna go oh gee dancing Beth today. There she is. Right there on stage word can't Birmingham. Here she goes. Here she goes. All right. All right, Beth. Let's see. We haven't had Beth dancing in quite a while. All right. Did you know about this, I just discovered that edge has added visual search to images over a certain size Yeah. When you hover over such an image that's what is edge. What is edge\r\n\r\nanybody know what edge Yeah, I know. I know. It's a browser. I know it's a browser. I'm being difficult. Does anybody actually use edge besides Beth? Stacy likes edge. Okay, anyway. Okay, anyway. Oh yeah. Okay. Yeah, yeah. Okay. I'm so deep neck deep in, in the in the Apple ecosystem. I don't even know what it is but actually do have it. Actually do have it on my machine. Let me pull that up. See here. Oh, it's very slow to open. It's very very slow. Okay, there it is. All right. So now you do have copilot over here someplace. Understand? Yeah, so there's copilot. I tried to use this AI search, but as you can see it is dogs slow. And the replies are good grief. It's slow. Wow, look how slow this is this like what is going on here? Anyway, okay, so let's get back to the actual question. When you hover over an image you get this weird Okay. visual search to images over a certain size. So Beth, are you saying you drop an image in here to search or when you're searching like where do I go to do this? Let's try it.\r\n\r\nSee the link. Wow. Okay, so maybe I should just read the whole question. Before being snarky. I apologize. Okay, so Beth says go to office depot.com and hover over the first image on the page. Like this one. Oh, look at that. Wow. Okay, that's pretty nifty. It's kind of cool. Look creepy. Creepy. Quick, pop it up. Come on. Okay. Interest. No, I have never seen this. Yeah, Chrome has something similar when you right click an image. I don't like the image hover to be honest with you. It's very obtrusive. Look at that, and it's coming up to competitors. Ooh, that's huh. Oh, y'all, how long before Microsoft starts monetizing this? Do you think? Oh, look ads they already did. Of course they did. Look at that. So this is so you line has advertised they're paying Microsoft so that when you mouse over the image link their products care competing products. can come up. That is sneaky, dirty. Look at that. I have never seen that before. Oh, my goodness gracious. And you can open it in a new tab. Wow. Okay, so you want to turn this off? I don't know. That you can because this bath is not coming from you. Yeah, that's just switched to Netscape. Paul's got great advice. There. Netscape 2.0 2.0 With composure Yep.\r\n\r\nSo this is coming from the browser itself. So I don't know that there's anything you can do from the website and to stop this from happening. I'm not aware of anything. Now. Can I type please browser? Yeah, I can't type worth anything today. Which is not good for my professional job. All right. So let's take a quick look at something reliable we'll try this one. I've never heard of them. But you know okay, what I want is edge can you just tell me the percentage for edge please\r\n\r\ndon't care about that. Oh my gosh, just give me the numbers. For edge. I'm gonna guess it's pretty low.\r\n\r\nYeah, edge is blue. So as of February only 5% of their users globally ish. I mean, maybe higher on that particular website\r\n\r\nYeah. Oh, look at that. See this? Yeah. Thank you for telling me that it's very large here at the top, other than scrolling way down here. So it's a 5% problem bath. But still, that's a lot of people. I don't know how you would turn this off on the website end. That is interesting. Shame, edge. Shame. Shame, shame. Yep. Beth, I would be angry too if I was your furniture website client. So tell them to sue Microsoft. Because that is you know, I don't know that I'm not sure of a way around that. That is a browser feature. That I don't know that you can turn on me think about this. What if a website could turn off browser features? That's problematic, right. It's my browser. I want to be able to do with it what I want to do with it. You can turn it off in an individual browser like has been suggested. But this is not solving the problem that the furniture store is angry about. Oh, hey, Beth. Here's what you could do. Go into the furniture store at night when nobody's around. Go to all of their computers in the edge and turn that feature off with the instructions that were in the chat. And then they don't see it in the morning and say problem solved. Don't do that really. But yeah, I don't know. I do not know what you could do to solve that. Yeah. Sorry about that. All right. Next up is class. Oh my Okay. Many many things here. All right. class has a site's down. Incident. Several, but not all sites on the server went down during the early morning hours when the sites were running their backups. Yeah. That happens on checking the sites that were down each case that IP config and htaccess for both blank once the blank files are restored from a backup each site work normally again now trying to determine the cause. The server reported being out of disk space. Thanks to runaway log files logging is turned off. I've experienced server out of disk space leading to that years ago. Yep. Searching online I found some people reporting the same scenario. Yeah, so that absolutely can happen. That's a that's a host issue that you need to fuss with them about some references in that discussion, making sure that the config has not writable you should do that. Anyway. Your WP config matter of fact, solid security flags that tools I think see Yep, change file permissions. So as you will notice here, solid security recommends that both the htaccess in the WP config are set to 444 which means nobody gets access. That is the most secure right now the little stumbling block this can create if you're trying to edit one of those things, is you have to change your file permissions, then edit it and then change your file permissions back but the small, small price to pay for some security. The other thing this can affect is certain plugins like to write their changes to the P config like certain caching, plugins, things like that. They won't be able to do this until the permissions are set to 644. So that will solve this problem because not even the system can write the WP config and htaccess. Yep, so setting those to 444 will help ultimately logging needs you know that kind of logging, runaway logging needs to be dealt with at the at the host level. Also spacing out your backups. All of this depends on how much horsepower your server has, right. And if all of your backups are happening at about the same time, and you've got weeny websites backing up, all within five minutes of each other that's asking the server to do a lot and it's not a solid backups problem. It's a you didn't schedule your things right. So I would suggest you know I've got a spreadsheet where we kind of keep a running role of backup times to kind of space those out. And again, it doesn't always happen right at that time, but make sure they're spaced out and not running a bunch of them at the same time. That's just a good practice. So yeah, that way doesn't tax your server so there's a few suggestions class does that help?\r\n\r\nWell 444 mess up solid security writing. Yeah, it will prevent solid security. Yeah, from editing the htaccess. But you'll want to so you get all your settings right. And then you lock it down. And then you're good. Yeah, it's actually in our launch process. When we are launching a site one of the final post launch items on the list is to lock down the IP config and the htaccess to 444. Great question, good discussion. But yeah, and you'll see this show up and a plug in. It'll say like, couldn't write this today. Be config, please manually add this code. And so you just go in and add it. You know, those things should be few and far between. And you're in control of what happens to those files now. Does that help? Oh, and Beth it's not even close. Not even close. Okay, good. Thanks, class. Okay, this one. Hillary is not with us today. Okay, question about a bilingual site. The client wants by the way, the multilingual is coming slowly to WordPress core and life will be better. But for now the client wants to revamp a website for local businesses. p p qurban.com.au. As we know Hillary is in Australia. So it's mighty early for her to be on these live streams. She built the current one herself she wants it in English and Mandarin. Only the five main pages have to be duplicated in Mandarin. The blog will be English only. She can write the Mandarin content. So what's the best and simplest way to organize navigation fonts and et cetera? So Hillary I'm going to suggest right now that you go with WP M L it is a beast, but also probably the best solution for this issue. Oh, Melanie, thank you. That is an excellent question. Hillary if there is a page builder involved, then it's going to be problematic. It's going to be problematic. WP ML does make that a little bit easier. But it's it. Yeah. It does work with most, most page builders. But yeah, it's going to the adding a page builder into a multilingual site can create issues that you don't foresee. We'll harder to get around and work with but this is going to be your best option. It can be a little pricey depending on what you're wanting to do. But yeah, 100 bucks a year or so.\r\n\r\nAll right, so hopefully that answers your question. Oh, what do you do for navigation? So you can do PML we'll give you this little flag widget and you can automatically switch. So you really don't have to do anything with your navigation. You just add this flag widget somewhere prominent and it'll flip around to the other language. Yep. Anybody that's doing multilingual have other advice for Hillary before we move on from this one.\r\n\r\nOkey dokey. Next up is Beth Livingston is probably the one you want me to skip Beth will mention it. All right. And David Johnson is here too. So a fellow from our local meetup contacted me today to talk about finding a mentor or helper with technical things. I am not the person he needs so I referred him to solid Academy yay. Of course explaining you have to buy the suite. I used to be an affiliate for I iThemes to solid have the same program and yes solid WP does have an affiliate program. WP bam. And Beth had messaged me earlier, saying that she got all this setup. And if you're not an affiliate, why don't you become an affiliate? link is right there. And you can make money from referring people to solid Academy and of course we'd love to we'd love for you to refer people to solid Academy. So there it is. Get it all set up and registered and there you go\r\n\r\nalright, that's Did you have any issues getting set up as an affiliate? I will say they didn't check with me before they granted you affiliate status, you know? All right. Next up is awesome, Paul. All right. Any thoughts? On this error in the log? And we go to slack because interestingly, David, our security software on the site somehow filtered out this error message and thought Paul was a hacker which, you know, is not out of the question. And slack is very slow to load for me. Okay, here we go. All right here is the error that Yeah, see, oh, this is this does look like hacky Ackerson I can't eat it. This is making my eyes bug. Okay, let's see. WordPress database error, you have an error in your SQL syntax. So Paul, did you check the manual that corresponds to your server version? Because that's the first step. Hey, okay. What what is this? Okay, it's something in the Backup Buddy Cron. When it was running housekeeping okay. So backup it appears that solid backups executed a sequel command that things didn't like and it was today. Interesting. Okay, so Paul, I would drop in a support ticket on this. If you haven't already. This is interesting. I've never seen anything like this. Have you ever seen anything like this David? I haven't.\r\n\r\nSo okay, that's good advice. Sue because the same filter that caught your gravity form entry might catch the support ticket as well Paul drop this into a text file or something and attach it or put it in a just or Ciana file. Interesting. I've never seen this so I have thoughts but they're not helpful. It might be good Paul soothsaying had blocked her text attachment, stick it into just take a picture. I mean, you could. Yeah.\r\n\r\nSo this is running daily housekeeping. Let's trying to clear about all the transients.\r\n\r\nThis only happened once Paul.\r\n\r\nIt's a few times. So David. It's in the plugins and themes channel of the solid Academy slack. It's pasted there. Okay, so David Johnson is on the case. We'll get that passed upstream that that is weird. So it did happen a few times. Interesting. Interesting. All right. Well, we'll see if we can figure out about that Paul and get an answer. All right. Ah, interesting. Manu is next. Still looking for a video and webinar of how to set up backups security, backups, security pro plugin, not able to send backup to Google Drive. Money what what are we talking about the solid backups plugin okay, I'm not able to send backup to Google Drive second backup was set up to backup once a week it's not following\r\n\r\nbackup folder okay. I have to remove two months of backup so I do not have to increase the quota. Lots of manual Billy past backups. Yeah. Would like from the webinar members to link Okay, trying to understand what you're asking here\r\n\r\nOkay, so Manu you would like just a step by step walkthrough of how to set up solid backups. So have you looked at the help the help desk for solid WP so there are pretty good Doc's here. I don't know that there are videos, but they are step by step instructions with screenshots. So scheduling their screenshots that show you exactly what to do Yeah, I don't know that we have video for this out I don't know that we will. So that that is a question that's outside of my hemisphere. But they're they're pretty good text documents here.\r\n\r\nYeah. So\r\n\r\nthat's what I would suggest doing and if there's an issue with not being able to send that's something I would take up with solid backup support where you were you reaching out to solid security support or being the support form should have gotten you to the right place.\r\n\r\nBut yeah, if you follow the instructions here, it's going to step you right through how to set it up\r\n\r\nyou addressed the issue with solid support. So they should have asked for some sort of log or help you know they're there. They'll help you diagnose the issue of why it's not sending you know, they may or they may go back and forth with some questions and needing for information. I mean, I'm happy to set up a remote destination. I don't know that I can set up google drive here, but it's a pretty quick process. Let me let me see how many questions we have today. Left. Just a couple of questions. Okay. So monitor. Let me do these last two questions, and then we'll just do a solid backups drive google drive setup, right here. Alrighty. So next up is Tonya.\r\n\r\nAll right, Tanya, Row, Row, Row Your Kadence blocks, okay. When I create a three column Kadence roadblock and hide one of those columns by the visibility option on the desktop it hides the contents, but doesn't remove the column that throws off the layout a three column Kadence roadblock\r\n\r\ninteresting Okay. All right. Let's try to reproduce this\r\n\r\nall right.\r\n\r\nOkay. So you have a three column roadblock and there are columns. We'll just use text right? In each one.\r\n\r\nAll right. So what you're saying Tanya, you want you I would think it would hide the column and restructure the layout to call that's not going to do that. And no, it won't do that because there's still going to be a space and you can see that. So each one of these is a section. Oh, now what you could do. Let's see. Are you hiding? What are you hiding? Are you hiding the section? Okay, you're hiding the section. So let's set those visibility settings to hide everywhere. And just take a quick look. All right, so yeah, so it only knows sees what's happening. Is the row is set for three. So it's giving it space for three, which means that if one isn't there, it's still breaking these up into thirds. So okay, instead of this, what are you trying to accomplish? Like what what's the, on this page doing this? thing? What is what's the end goal\r\n\r\nokay, just removing an element on desktop so on. On tablet and mobile, the elements should appear. Yeah, so I mean, the easiest thing is to add another row but what you can do is think pretty sure. I'm pretty sure that we can say on desktop to be tried this. Now, that didn't work. Okay, so on desktop. Let's make it do this. And on tablet. Let's make it do this\r\n\r\nokay, that didn't work.\r\n\r\nthought that would have worked.\r\n\r\nYeah, you shouldn't have to get into CSS for this. Does anybody has anybody run across this? It's a little more block proficient than I am. Interesting. Why is it not stalking those parents have you reached out to Kadence support? They're pretty good about answering these sorts of questions. But generally for me if I have a row that is going to have different content specifically, it is going to be a whole new row that's only displayable on that viewport, yet reach out to Kadence support. They're really good about helping with little specific little weird problems like this.\r\n\r\nYeah, and this is one issue that I scratched my head about with Kadence and they've done this specifically, when you have a visibility issue on a like a visibility on the row. Even though this row or something is hidden. It's only CSS display none. So the content is actually there. It's actually going to load and it's going to be in the DOM, which I I'm not a fan of that. But they do it for a specific reason. And Ben's a smart guy. It's just not the way I would do it. But I'm not a plugin developer. So yeah. Yeah, Tanya, I would say at this point, make double your rows. It's gonna be the easiest thing or reach out to Kadence and see if they can give you some way to make that work. But that is an odd problem. Yeah, it is an odd problem. All right. Next up is Ben. This is Mr. Andersen. Hey, Ben. Any suggestions on a desktop two factor app. Nice run on Linux. Willie. Oh Authy desktop app is getting sunset. Oh really interesting. A two factor desktop app. So Ben, I use keeper as a password manager and it does authentication. It handles those one time pass codes. And I love it. That means everything is in one spot. It's really, really good. So that's what I use. Does anybody else have a suggestion for Ben on a desktop? To FA app that runs on Linux?\r\n\r\nNot sure we have a lot of Linux folks here. Yeah, I'm afraid then you might be the only Linux. I know I'm pretty sure that keeper runs on Linux. I don't want to open my vault. Ready Sure they do. Lennox but this is this is my password manager of choice. There's others, obviously. But this one. It's real cool. It's super helpful. If you're collaborating with someone, like as Chris and I are working together. We have a shared vault of agency passwords. And the two FA is in there so we don't have to bother each other for the code that it texts or whatever. Really neat.\r\n\r\nYeah. Is that an enterprise level with keeper? I don't think so. Ben. Although we do have the we don't have the highest level of keeper we have the middle level of keeper our bit Warden does something similar. Yes. Yeah bit Warden does something similar. Many of them are going to that many of the the password manager apps are moving towards the one time password the T OTP. Saving those and authenticating those as well. So you don't have to have another app to do all of that. I'll tell you something about Ben. Let me mention this. I love duo. Duo is amazing. It is so cool. It is a one time password app. It actually we actually use duo to to FA our keeper vault. But the reason I like it is duo has this option that it's called a push and the push sends a little note it goes phone and you just hit the button on your phone. And that validates instead of having to type in the code. It's super cool. And it's a Cisco product is super reliable and so forth. Yeah. All right. So then does that at least give you some direction to go?\r\n\r\nAll right. All right. Last question from Tanya. Then we'll do a quick setup of solid security for Manu. Okay, Tanya, I've heard that RCP restrict content Pro is on the chopping block or ignore list. Is that true? How long do you think it will stay on life support before they pull the plug? Ah, I don't have any answer about that. Tanya. I don't know if David can say anything about that. I don't I don't have any information about this. I do have several sites on RCEP that will be a very difficult job to transition away from very difficult RCEP is restrict content Pro. So yep. That's all I know Tanya. Where did you hear that news? Tanya, I'm curious. Can you share your source oh and tab. Oh, well. I wonder where they heard their sources. Tab being the admin bar Facebook group\r\n\r\nall right. I still like RCEP because it has it have all the membership plugins in WordPress. It has the most hooks and filters you can use as a developer to do really cool things. Okay, so Manu quick demo of solid backups and let me see. Make sure I'm logged into an appropriate drive. Okay, that's a good one. All right. So this is the drive where all of the training content lives. Hello backup. All right, so we are going to set up a destination Manu. We're going to add a new one here is going to be Google Drive. The sign in with Google. I'm going to authenticate over here\r\n\r\ngives me this crazy long code which I paste\r\n\r\nOkay, let's again\r\n\r\nokay, maybe I missed something earlier. All right Google Drive. It's I'm going to put it here in this backup folder. Set my limits to how many things I want. Add the destination. So it is there that we have a backup here Alright, there's I'm just going to make a quick database backup to have something quick to push over there. So if you did this, but it stopped working then there you may need to re authenticate your destination money\r\n\r\nGoogle is pretty notorious about making you re login to things that have authenticated like this. But yeah, we're correctly we're correctly connected\r\n\r\nwe can do a test while we're waiting on that backup to run. We're good\r\n\r\nwe'll wait on this file to disappear and we'll go check on it. Over in Google Drive. It should be pretty quick.\r\n\r\nThat's really it. It's just a few clicks and you have your external your remote destination setup.\r\n\r\nThe other caveat here is we're doing this on WP Nathan, which is probably the most cluttered demo site ever in the history of WordPress from all the plugins that we install and uninstall.\r\n\r\nWe're actually just about to blow the whole thing away and start over again. Chris and I were talking about that earlier. And one thing I will check here let's just make sure there's no GM gumming up in the action scheduler.\r\n\r\nI think it just completed there was one pending yep, there it went. There it is.\r\n\r\nYep, so that's it. Money to reauthenticate the destination. Probably the easiest thing to do would just be recreated. So just go out like the gear delete your destination and then retry but if you hit Test, and it works, it gives you the little pop up here, then you don't need to re authenticate because you're connected correctly. So that is it. Alright folks, that is going to wrap it up for today and for the week here on solid Academy. We have a lot of things coming up next week though. Let me show you what's going on. Make sure you sign up of course for Stacy's demark report. On Tuesday. We have news roundup coming back, the mark and of course Office Hours next week. The following week.
