If you have a question to ask there's still room to do so. The link is in the chat.\r\n\r\nThe welcome everybody. Glad you are here.\r\n\r\n13 questions in queue today\r\n\r\nsir 13 questions in queue\r\n\r\nAll right.\r\n\r\nLet's get started.\r\n\r\nWell, good afternoon. Good evening. Good morning wherever you happen to be across the world. Welcome to another office hours here on the salad Academy. My name is Nathan Ingram and this is the day you get to ask your questions. We had some technical issues actually scheduling issues that prevented me from having office hours last week, so I apologize for that late last minute cancellation could not be avoided because apparently I can't do timezones add numbers with timezones a very simple but unavoidable error that I made in scheduling. So anyway, several of you were at the recurring revenue retreat last week at Walt Disney World in Florida. It was excellent, as always, really good quality content, and then good, just good folks all the way around good stuff.\r\n\r\nSo let's see have some questions stacked up from last week, and several for today as well. So currently, 13 questions are in queue.\r\n\r\nAnd the link to ask more is there in the chat. So let's go ahead and get started, shall we?\r\n\r\nFirst question is from John. John M. Are you here, sir? This is a leftover from last week.\r\n\r\nFurther to the question about moving hosts.\r\n\r\nOkay, this was from two weeks ago, John, so I'm not going to remember the context. Of this.\r\n\r\nIs there is this a question?\r\n\r\nOr is this just additional information for something a couple of weeks ago? Looks like okay, it's an update.\r\n\r\nAll right.\r\n\r\nSo the host wanted you to get a full cPanel backup.\r\n\r\nYep, yep.\r\n\r\nYep, jet backup five will allow host to turn off cPanel backup because they'll conflict.\r\n\r\nOkay, good. Well, I'm glad you got it done. It's frustrating.\r\n\r\nJet backup is actually a really good bit of software.\r\n\r\nIt just you, you don't want to backup plugins running in your WordPress or in your cPanel. So all right, good. Well, I'm glad you got that sorted. Paul is next. Hey Paul.\r\n\r\nAll right.\r\n\r\nShould a vulnerable plugin as determined by solid security Pro that does not have an update available one be deactivated until an update is available to be activated and deleted until a plugin is available. According to the weekly security email it says if no patch you should deactivate it soon and look for alternate solutions. The plugin is deactivated isn't it still executable? by a hacker? Yes. Okay. So, yeah, we we have discussed this before, in one way or another.\r\n\r\nAnd it was from this actual same email and I've actually suggested to them that they make a change in this app. So here's the thing.\r\n\r\nBest practice is to delete it.\r\n\r\nThe the reason for that is yes. If a plugin is present on your site, even if it's not activated, the code is there right like you can go into Plugins and see there's the folder with the plugin with the code. Now, is it less of a risk if it's activated and deactivated? Yeah, probably because if there's an exploit they're probably going to probe the site to see if certain things exist that are indicative the plugin is there and then the hack, but the vulnerable code is still there. So best practice would be to delete it completely. Now\r\n\r\nwhat what do you do if there's not a solution available? Or if this is a major plugin that's doing like it would be a big deal to try to replace this plugin?\r\n\r\nThat's an even more complicated question, which is one that you did not ask but I'm going to answer anyway because I think it's important so this is what I do. Okay, this is not solid recommendation. This is just a guy talking on a thing. Okay. This is what I do. If it's a major plugin that I feel like is going to probably have a fix at some point very, very soon. I am proud that the first thing I'm going to look at is I'm going to dig into the patch stack information. And they'll tell you if it's known to be exploited currently. Right. And so, if it is not currently exploited, I might play a game and kind of weigh out of do I need to replace it yet? Or is it not, you know, like, I don't want to do a whole bunch of work to replace a plugin. If the fix just hasn't been made yet, and the thing still hasn't been exploited. Does that make sense? Now again, that's just me and my level of risk tolerance in most cases, and well, most in many cases, I've done that. Now, the other thing about this is, this is why there's patch stack integration and solid security Pro. Because if the if patch stack is listing the vulnerability, then in the patch stack firewall, they've fixed it, virtually. So it is as though the developer has patched it. Does that make sense? So that's the really great value of the patch stack. Integration in solid security Pro. So does that help everybody give a little more? I mean, it's answers to questions that Brian asked. But does that give a little more context?\r\n\r\nYeah, Ben, so yeah, it's somebody likely the, the researcher or whatever has suggested a fix. And as I understand it, that's what patch stack implements in their firewall, or they make it where that that whatever the process through which that thing is exploited is blocked by the firewall. Yeah, they basically Thank you, Stacy. That's a lot. That's a lot more eloquent. I'm struggling with getting over being sick and also some family stuff that's going on in my extended family right now. And I am not putting words together well, so yes, basically, they plug the hole.\r\n\r\nSo yes. Does that help? Does that make sense everybody?\r\n\r\nOkie dokie.\r\n\r\nAll righty. Class is next. If you have a question you haven't asked.\r\n\r\nThe link is in the chat.\r\n\r\nClass. Are you here? Yes, you are.\r\n\r\nAll righty.\r\n\r\nWooCommerce now known as whoo hoo, and hiding out of stock items.\r\n\r\nFor those of you that missed it in yesterday's news roundup or in other emails lately WooCommerce is now Whoo. It's just Whoo. No more have to type the commerce.\r\n\r\nIt's gonna be hard to do for the students sponsoring. Oh, it's the students sponsoring site. Okay. I need students to no longer display once someone has sponsored them. I've set WooCommerce to not display out of stock items. This is just still so. Oh, it's just so weird. Okay.\r\n\r\nNot to display out of stock items which works great in the store catalog page. Student sponsorships are listed on the Kadence page. Using the category products by block. Okay.\r\n\r\nOkay.\r\n\r\nThis lets me exclude out of stock items. However, its default options for what info to display are limited and don't include product description.\r\n\r\nPlus, I don't want an Add to Cart button here. Yeah. Okay. Alternately, using a post block will let me control what Info displays, but it won't let me filter on stock status.\r\n\r\nIt\r\n\r\nthoughts on how to Yeah, thoughts on how to get the additional info to display the full bio button.\r\n\r\nOkay, so basically you do you want to have this that you sent the picture off class\r\n\r\nwhat\r\n\r\nproducts by category\r\n\r\nso, what do you want that's different from this class? I guess I got I got confused on the question.\r\n\r\nYou want to show picture name short bio and learn more? Okay.\r\n\r\nOkay, for this I would use a post block and what you can probably whether there may be a couple of ways to do this\r\n\r\nso in Kadence\r\n\r\nlook at something really quick\r\n\r\nso in the Kadence post block\r\n\r\nyou can't filter by post status. So yeah, we need to show only\r\n\r\nclass are you sure that using a post block shows out of stock products seems like woo would remove that\r\n\r\nokay, it does show\r\n\r\nokay, there's, there's two approaches to this, neither of which we're going to be able to flush all the way out in this office hours. But the direction I would discuss too complex. There's two directions you could go. It is possible that what you can do is use chat GPT to write a function that prevents any out of stock WooCommerce products from appearing in any loop results.\r\n\r\nAnd that's how I would kind of ask chat GPU to do it and have it make you function and then just play with it. Does that make sense? You should be able to tell chat GPT to eliminate from any query. I particularly particularly like is this only going to appear on one page of the site this Grid of Things or is it going to be used elsewhere? This grid of students because okay, if there's only on the one page, then you can even tell it on this page ID in any you know, on any queries I want it to not show like you could even restrict it down to that far probably.\r\n\r\nSo that's one direction, the other direction is to get back to your question here\r\n\r\nyeah\r\n\r\nthird, you think we could make the products by category block work if you don't have to have the product description?\r\n\r\nSo like you could\r\n\r\nah, Ben is really smart. I don't know if that hook shows up in this products. By Category block though. You could try that.\r\n\r\nBut you absolutely. On this page. Could. Where's your picture again?\r\n\r\nYou could toggle on the Add to Cart button. And you can update that globally in WooCommerce. And just like you can change that out with a filter. And Chad GBT will take we'll show you how to do that to just say I want to globally because there's nowhere else you don't want add the cart ever to be on the site right? It's always going to be full bio or whatever. Or is it only on this page?\r\n\r\nYou need it for QA. Oh, the coffee. Okay. So\r\n\r\nthen on this, you could do it with jQuery on that page script. That says on this page, wherever there's an Add to Cart, replace it with where you might and that might even be able to be a PHP function. But just as chat GBT how to do that, and it'll give you the script to do it.\r\n\r\nThe shortest quickest way that I know this will work is if you know you just have like the names of the students and then view full bio right there.\r\n\r\nYou can change the Add to Cart button just change the text to view bio with a script. That's the quickest way to do it.\r\n\r\nSo does that give you enough direction class\r\n\r\nthere's no way we're gonna get a full solution.\r\n\r\nIt's a little bigger than office hours. That should give you a couple of different directions to go.\r\n\r\nAll right, Hillary is next.\r\n\r\nAll right, Hillary is not with us today. Question about UX UI on Kadence pro another particular client. He wants the service page cards on the homepage to have a hover effect to show the words terrible idea. They also need to be able to click through to the Services page. That is really bad idea. For a number of reasons. It's hidden. So you're gonna the the Well, I mean, the client may not care, right? It's it's not good. It's not good. For SEO. It's not good for accessibility, this kind of hidden text that requires any sort of interaction to display, like you are you are hiding CSS with CSS text that's probably in an H tag. That's SEO value. Like you don't want to do that. It's just a bad idea. All the way around. So try not to do that.\r\n\r\nBut if you want to do that, let's see if it looks nice but doesn't lose user experience. You can see what I mean on this example.\r\n\r\nYeah, it's just like a hover card problem.\r\n\r\nLike this. Yeah, this is this is this sort of design is five years ago. It's not advisable for accessibility. In any\r\n\r\nany of this text, you're going to lose any SEO value in it whatsoever.\r\n\r\nThere are blocks that do this.\r\n\r\nThey're called like hover cards, but I would urge you not to do it. Like that. This is one of those decisions that like it's just inaccessible from the start.\r\n\r\nOh, yeah. Also, mobile i You can't you can't display text on hover, you know, with mobile. So it's like how do you ever the mobile it's just a bad. It's a bad UI all the way UX UI all the way around? To do these hover cards. It's just not advisable hiding thing that you want to show up.\r\n\r\nSo I would urge you not to do it.\r\n\r\nI don't know that. I just don't use blocks like this. Does anybody know the name of a block that does this?\r\n\r\nYeah, and like Doug is suggesting you could put you know the text down below here or something but this is just not good design. It's not usable design.\r\n\r\nDoes anybody know of a block that does this\r\n\r\nseems like we've done something on\r\n\r\nlugging around up with this\r\n\r\npin instead it's the don't do it block.\r\n\r\nLet box Yeah. I mean, they're out there. Here we go again, with these wordpress.com plug in.\r\n\r\nListings.\r\n\r\nYeah, let's see.\r\n\r\nYeah, so this one, this is like a paid for version.\r\n\r\nIt's just not advisable. I'm sure there's blocks out there that let you do this. I can't call one to mind.\r\n\r\nBut just do it differently. Don't do it that way.\r\n\r\nSadie, I know Divi can do it. There's plugins like an ultimate add ons for Beaver Builder and Elementor that will do this. It's just I would not do it.\r\n\r\nYeah, there are things that will do it. So yeah.\r\n\r\nHillary hopefully that. I don't know. I don't know. If that helps.\r\n\r\nSorry about that.\r\n\r\nAll right, next up is Ben B.\r\n\r\nOh, this is the deleted one. Oh, okay.\r\n\r\nDeleted next up Manu.\r\n\r\nOkay, Zoom meetings. Can you tell me Amani Are you here?\r\n\r\nYes. Okay. Can you tell me how to automatically take a Zoom video meeting and send just the audio and transcript to an email and to the cloud. getting support from Zoom is hard auto chat will not let me okay. So you can do this with Zapier.\r\n\r\nThe Zoom, what is new zoom meeting is created. It's a trigger and Zapier and it will actually the items that are available in the ZAP are the audio file is one of those. The transcript, I believe also is one of those. The transcript has a question mark I don't know if the transcript the and also monitor the transcript for zoom meetings. It's a.cc file, and it's got like 8000 Trent like timestamps in there, it's not a really good usable transcript, unless you delete all of those timestamps, which is a massive pain.\r\n\r\nThe audio though, works really well if we do that.\r\n\r\nLike I'm actually saving all the audio from every one of these live streams over in a Google Drive folder.\r\n\r\nWho knows we may do a podcast one day just back load all the audio.\r\n\r\nBut yeah, so the audio is available. But the the CC text is, I'm pretty sure it's available. But it is poor. It has timestamps in it, and it's just problematic. Yeah. So Manu, I don't see you responding in the chat. So I'm assuming that answers your questions.\r\n\r\nOkay, next up is Beth.\r\n\r\nAll right, Beth.\r\n\r\nOkay. Ah, still confused about how to permanently redirect the website you're taking down where exactly do you place the redirect if the domain registrar? Yes, because there is no hosting, right. So it has to be at wherever DNS is controlled. I mean, yes, sort of registrar. It It depends. Where is DNS for the domain being control.\r\n\r\nThere's multiple places that can that could be it is likely at the registrar.\r\n\r\nSo you just set up the redirect there.\r\n\r\nCloudflare okay. So if it's okay, Cloudflare is the registrar\r\n\r\nOkay, Cloudflare is doing the DNS. Okay, so here's the tricky thing about redirecting a full a full site with Cloudflare. You have to have and I just accidentally stumbled onto this this week, in order like, let's see.\r\n\r\nLet's go to Cloudflare.\r\n\r\nThe reason you might be having trouble, Chris is probably the same reason I was having trouble.\r\n\r\nAnd I just stumbled across that this week.\r\n\r\nIn order to redirect the domain, you do that by the way here under rules and redirect rules. And you can create a rule that redirects all incoming requests to whatever the new URL is right here. Now this though, doesn't work. I just learned this. This doesn't work. If there if the other DNS records are empty.\r\n\r\nThere has to be at least one a record for the domain in there. It can point wherever you want it to go. But there has to be an A record for the domain name.\r\n\r\nOnce you do that, you're fine. In a record with some IP address, you can make it a bogus IP address if you want it doesn't matter. But there has to be an A record for the root domain.\r\n\r\nLike in this case, the a record for route is this one. It's an A record. It's the domain name and it's whatever IP address you want it to be it something has to be there in order for that redirect to work. I don't understand why that is.\r\n\r\nIt just is what it is. I'm certain there's a technical reason why that makes sense. But I don't know. That's what I ran into trying to redirect a domain only a couple of days ago.\r\n\r\nPaul, will that redirect one page of the old site to a new site or does every page get read out so it depends on what kind of redirect rule you use. So down here rules, redirect rules, create a rule. So you can say all incoming requests or custom filter expression if the URI full country contains contact, for example, then redirect it to something so you can set these up. And you know, just like in the WAF rules, you can stack multiple conditions here. But in order for any of these redirect rules to work, I've just discovered that there has to be at least a one a record in there.\r\n\r\nDoes that help? Paul?\r\n\r\nDoes reg X work for 1000s of pages? Um great. I don't know if you can expression preview.\r\n\r\ndynamic expression I guess I think so. I've never tried it.\r\n\r\nI've never tried it. But I think that's what this means. It's a dynamic expression. You'd have to get into that. I think probably that's regex\r\n\r\nbut I've been wrong about Cloudflare more than once this week already.\r\n\r\nHave a role.\r\n\r\nOkay, any other questions about redirecting and Cloudflare while we're here?\r\n\r\nOkay.\r\n\r\nAll right. Next up also Beth All right. Just FYI. Almost all the emails from solid go into spam even after repeatedly marking them as not spam. I have no idea what to say about that. You'll have to reach out to solid putting a ticket about that. That is above my paygrade I don't know why that's happening. Yeah, I can't there's I literally have no impact on any of that.\r\n\r\nI don't know even who's responsible for that.\r\n\r\nI would put in a support ticket and let them work it out.\r\n\r\nPaul, that is exactly right. It is not an office hours if we don't talk about Chad CPT or Cloudflare or both together all at the same time. You know, the quintessential office hours will be you know, it would be like using chat CPT to do something in Cloudflare for one of Hillary's clients.\r\n\r\nYeah, no, yeah. Okay. Next up.\r\n\r\nBeen Am I getting any software or services for Black Friday?\r\n\r\nProbably I don't know.\r\n\r\nThere's nothing burning a hole in my wallet.\r\n\r\nI'm pretty well set.\r\n\r\nThink of anything and I'm just gonna jump out. Feel free to share your pics in the chat. Anybody got something they're gonna buy for Black Friday, Cyber Monday. It's a good i the accessibility checker by equalised digital, they always run a bundle sale, which is really good on Black Friday.\r\n\r\nGrid builder does have a good deal going on.\r\n\r\nSolid Of course, like we talked about yesterday, actually all the stellar products are 40% off for that first year.\r\n\r\nIt's Oh, that's a great mentioned there, Ben. If you have clients that are using the standalone whoop, plugins. That is this is always a great time. To buy in and get that license cheaper.\r\n\r\nMost Black Friday deals are going to be first year only.\r\n\r\nYeah.\r\n\r\nEspecially coming up on Office Hours. How do you mean Phoebe? We're gonna sell a t shirt that says it's not an office hours unless we talked about Cloudflare in chat GPT.\r\n\r\nAffinity suite is a great investment. Yeah.\r\n\r\nOh Eddie, okay, so black so you cannot purchase solid Academy by itself. Solid Academy Pro. Or what how do we want to premium?\r\n\r\nI'm telling you, y'all I am getting over being sick and I spent the morning in the hospital with my dad. So I am not fully connected.\r\n\r\nThe yes solid Academy premium is only available with solid suite. So unlike before, where there was a standalone I iThemes Training membership that's no longer offered. Now the good news is the standalone training membership was 399 and the lowest end you know, the the one site level solid suite is like 199 and cheaper right now. So it's actually cheaper and you get software pretty cool.\r\n\r\nSo yeah.\r\n\r\nYou cannot renew my solid Academy. So Edie if whatever plan you're on now if you you can keep it.\r\n\r\nYou can keep it as long as you want. They're not going to as long as you keep renewing it they you can keep whatever plan you have. That's something that has been said from the very beginning with this transition. From I iThemes to solid WP. They've been committed to the fact that if you have a toolkit or some bundle or whatever, you as long as you keep renewing it they're not going to turn you off yeah\r\n\r\nyeah your bath your I mean the solid suite it just it's a deal. Just like just to get the solid Academy I think and Yeah John like that's do the math and it's better to just buy the salt if all you had was the standalone training membership. Just dump that and get the solid sweet so it's gonna be what half the cost. And less than that now with Black Friday deal, okay. Anybody else on this any Black Friday deals, you're sharing or thinking about?\r\n\r\nMonster contracts. Kenneth. There's the 20 the most discount I give on Monster contracts is 20%. And that's the Black Friday deal as well.\r\n\r\nYeah, 20% off Black Friday. 2023 is the code\r\n\r\nthank you for mentioning monster contracts.\r\n\r\nI try not to do a ton of self promotion here, although I do feel like it's a really helpful tool for everybody.\r\n\r\nAll right. Next up is Gene. Gene. Are you here? Hey gene.\r\n\r\nAll right.\r\n\r\nGene says a site that managed but do not host is extremely slow in the back end.\r\n\r\nMe to some days. The front end has decent speed. The IT company hosting site is offering to move it to an AWS server.\r\n\r\nStopping here, run, run run run away. Okay. Could you discuss what you think of AWS servers and how they are to work while you can I still use okay\r\n\r\non the level of zero being the easiest\r\n\r\nand 9,999,999 being difficult. AWS is 9,999,999 It is really hard to work with.\r\n\r\nReally hard to work with.\r\n\r\nSo here's what's going to happen. Okay.\r\n\r\nIt is possible to set up a LAMP stack on Amazon, AWS lamp, Bing, Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP. You can set that up, no problem. The problem comes when weird things will start happening and you'll think it's WordPress but it's not and it's just a weird goofy thing that just Something's just not and it's comes back to the hosting environment. This is I would strongly recommend that you advise them not to host on Amazon AWS. This is why WordPress specialty hosts exists. They got all these kinks ironed out.\r\n\r\nIf the IT company insists on it, then Gene You got to have written in writing. Written in writing my brain y'all I'm slow on the back end today.\r\n\r\nI'm gonna adopt that phrase that could also be a t shirt.\r\n\r\nSo\r\n\r\nI need more than that.\r\n\r\nYeah, so you need to have an eye if it was me gene. The way I would explain to the client is you talk to anybody who does WordPress. They will tell you that weird things happen when you put WordPress on AWS it's just weird. They it will work. Technically it will work but weird things happen. And I will not work on a WordPress site. I can't work on a site a WordPress site on AWS without saying any problem that I deem I deem to be hosting related is billable at my at a double rate or not my problem or I just I exercise I'm not going to be able to work on right. And like I would not work without that waiver signed. It's an by the way, that's part of monster contracts. Anything we deemed to be hosting related is billable, but like it needs to be double billable because it's going to make you pull your hair out.\r\n\r\nSo I'm being grim today. Sorry, Jean.\r\n\r\nany follow up questions on that one Jean I'm scrolling back up to see if I missed anything.\r\n\r\nDoes that make sense?\r\n\r\nIt's a giant pain\r\n\r\nYeah.\r\n\r\nOh gee, I remember we've talked some about the site already.\r\n\r\nMoving the site to AWS is not going to solve your speed problem.\r\n\r\nThis is the one that's hosted internally at this company right and they're probably doesn't have enough resources. That this is like saying you know, I drive a a, a tank, and I want to go a little bit faster to the grocery store. Therefore I'm going to buy in, you know, in the racing car, instead of like a Honda Accord, which is all this site needs is just like some reasonably decent entry level managed WordPress hosting someplace that's going to charge 15 bucks a month and it's done. Right like put them on Nexus. It'll be fine.\r\n\r\nYeah, that's this is this is going from really terrible internal resource issue. To like the most complicated like an IT guy definitely came up with the solution to the problem. I that's exactly what happened here. Anyway.\r\n\r\nOkay. So I would urge them not to do this it's going to create lots of issues.\r\n\r\nYeah.\r\n\r\nOkay.\r\n\r\nNext up, also Jean.\r\n\r\nOh, disregard the second question.\r\n\r\nOkay, next up Manu.\r\n\r\nMonday are you here? I see you listed I haven't seen you talking.\r\n\r\nCan you give me a link to the solid Academy Black Friday special also is there a combination of solid Academy with security pro Okay, so I just answered that a minute ago.\r\n\r\nAnd it's all in the solid suite and the link is solid wp.com and click the banner at the top.\r\n\r\nBoom right there\r\n\r\nare you can get the solid suite, you just got to use the bfcm 23 code.\r\n\r\nSo right here, the solid suite. I wish they put solid Academy in here but they don't do that. $119 a year gets you one license for all the products and solid Academy. Although now we do have a drop down menu. They did add that which was awesome.\r\n\r\nWe even have a beaker\r\n\r\ngene is the solid suite different than the toolkit. Yes, the toolkit no longer exists.\r\n\r\ntoolkit is only available for legacy customers who have it before had it before the rebrand.\r\n\r\nManu I don't understand what you're saying.\r\n\r\nYou've been on things for two years.\r\n\r\nSo you you can keep the exact thing you have now. If what you have now can you get the Black Friday deal?\r\n\r\nSure you can get the Black Friday deal if you want to.\r\n\r\nIf you know the Oh, I see what you're saying is, again, I'm running slow on the back end today remember? Okay, so can you buy the Black Friday deal if your email address is already existing?\r\n\r\nSo yes, probably.\r\n\r\nAnd Paul, I don't even know that you'd have to give up what you have now the issue with this is only good for new customers is my new hat monitor has the memberships that were tied to I themes. You could still buy the solid suite because that's a different product, right?\r\n\r\nDifferent product, you can still get the discount, or just use a different email address. I mean, it's Come on this is not super complicated. And so, you know, I would say if you have a question, just email sales Monday, but yeah, you can get the Black Friday deal.\r\n\r\nChristine, they have already done that. So Christine is asking older plugins for my themes. Are they going to stop supporting those and if so, will they tell us when? Yeah, all that was covered in town halls months ago. There's been blog posts about it. So all the all the old themes plugins other than backup security and sync which is now central are no longer being supported. Yep, so all the old display buddy loop, buddy, those have been they've been broken for years anyway. Yeah.\r\n\r\nYeah, they don't work really well with phpa. There's problems Yeah.\r\n\r\nChristine. Chris, sorry. Solid suite comes with backups, security. What's these things right here and I don't know why they blurred these out. But anyway, security solid Central, which is I the old I think sync and then backups. Along with solid Academy. Yeah.\r\n\r\nSolid backup solid Central.\r\n\r\nAnd somewhere down here. They mentioned solid Academy.\r\n\r\nEventually, I thought they did anyway.\r\n\r\nOh, whatever. I think it's on the solid sweet page. Now that's this page. I don't know.\r\n\r\nWhatever.\r\n\r\nWhen does Black Friday end? I have no idea.\r\n\r\nLet's look at the stellar\r\n\r\nstellar page.\r\n\r\nIt does doesn't say I'm guessing it's good through Black Friday and Cyber Monday.\r\n\r\nSo that would be through Monday. I mean that Monday, but I don't know they may it may go longer. Sure. I don't know.\r\n\r\nYeah.\r\n\r\nOkay, let's see.\r\n\r\nSolid suite ends December the third. Thank you. Thank you, John. Where did you see that? Is it in the fine print someplace?\r\n\r\nAnyway, okay.\r\n\r\nNext up, Doug.\r\n\r\nOh, wait, Ben is anything missing compared to the toolkit a lot is missing. Missing. It just doesn't include the same things the toolkit. It depends on which toolkit you have because toolkit has included different things at different times. So some of you may have a toolkit that has Kadence and restrict content Pro and all bunch of other things.\r\n\r\nSome of you may not have Kadence. Some of you may not have RCEP. It just depends on when you bought into the toolkit what was included at that point, but the toolkit is no longer the products are being sold individually and solid is now these three core products currently, but wait till next year because more things are coming. Okay, Doug, you say you're gonna, like I'm gonna like your question. Is it going to cause my back end to run slower than it already is currently? Is this going to be a lag on my memory? Because access to my hard drive right now is is not working real well. Okay.\r\n\r\nDoug says I'm gonna like this question.\r\n\r\nDear sales associate.\r\n\r\nHere we go.\r\n\r\nIs it a good time to ditch my toolkit and move to solid suite? Can you help me here's what I have. toolkit at 749 which is security unlimited backups unlimited Central Academy plugin suite unlimited.\r\n\r\nThis is not going to help you much at all.\r\n\r\nThe plugin suite all those plugins are pretty much dead.\r\n\r\nHere's what I want to buy solid suite 5699 After\r\n\r\ndoes the new sound suite include plugins Kadence and RCP? No?\r\n\r\nNo. So, while I themes included Kadence Kadence is now a standalone completely has no direct like umbrella association with solid other than they are products in the same family.\r\n\r\nIf you have one of the toolkits that includes Kadence\r\n\r\nYeah, that's that's a really good deal. I'd hang on to that one.\r\n\r\nYeah, Doug, so that would be a great reason to give out to keep the toolkit. Yep. So in this case\r\n\r\nall right. Here's what you get extra. Okay. Now this is a good point. Okay.\r\n\r\nThe unlimited sites is what you have here. That you don't have here. But what you have here that you don't have here is the patch stack firewall.\r\n\r\nAnd the patch stack firewall is pretty darn cool. Now in a few, I think, three weeks from now or so. I'm gonna be doing a demo on the patch tech firewall. It's gonna be on a Friday. It's weird. It's out of our normal cadence of webinars. But I'm going to show like you can upgrade one like if you're in a legacy toolkit that doesn't include the patch stack firewall with solid security Pro. You can add that like per site if you want, so you can add them. I'm not sure what the pricing is yet.\r\n\r\nBut you will be able to add the patch stack firewall site by site if you have a legacy toolkit, but that's one thing you also wouldn't get just out of the box does that make sense? The answer your question Doug.\r\n\r\nHow do you know if your solid security is including the patch stack?\r\n\r\nIf you bought the new saw it well. If you have a legacy I iThemes plan. You do not have patch stack firewall. You do have patch stack as the scanner like it all it has been for you know a year now. But you don't have the patch stack firewall for the virtual patching. Okay, if you have the solid suite, and any you know, basically it's when did I buy this thing? Was it before the rebrand or after? If it was before you don't have the firewall? If it was after you do, and the reason for this is, you know it costs solid, X number of, you know, monetary amount. I don't know how much it is X number of dollars per site, you know, to access through the API, the patch stack firewall, so they can't just give it to hundreds of other sites. Because, you know, that wasn't factored into the pricing of the plans that they sold, which didn't include that. So yeah,\r\n\r\nsad patch that might be showing up in your security Pro as the site scanner but you wouldn't have the firewall again unless you wouldn't you won't. You do not have the firewall. If you have a legacy I think license\r\n\r\nany I think security pro renewal will not include patch stack firewall again, careful here.\r\n\r\nI fit or solid secure. I'm going to bed y'all\r\n\r\nI need a break. Okay. Patch stack is included in solid security period. Okay, as the scanning mechanism. The patch stack is what lets you know that there's a vulnerability. Okay, that's the patch stack site scan. That's included in solid security. No even at the free level, right. We're using patch stack as the site scanner. If you have that. There's another service from patch stack called the patch stack firewall. The patch stack firewall is included. If you bought the solid suite or solid security after the rebrand if you had a legacy I iThemes account you get the patch stack site scan, but not the firewall.\r\n\r\nThat confused everybody do I just need to shut this baby down now?\r\n\r\nAre you people just egging me on because that's awful. Okay.\r\n\r\nOkay, because I know some of you people oh my Okay, good.\r\n\r\nI'm going to bed after this is over. Actually I'm going back to the hospital.\r\n\r\nOkay, next up, Stacey with an E.\r\n\r\nYes and you will if you have if you have a legacy I themes membership of some sort minded it's not confusing it for new customers, right? It's only for legacy customers coming forward. It's just going to be part of solid for new customers. But you know, and it's really not confusing if you see what's going on. And we will be doing a demo to explain how to add on the firewall to that you're in a legacy I iThemes account. And it's great because it's really an opportunity folks to look at some customers and say, you know, here's some more high profile customers I may have and by bringing in a patch stack firewall, you it gives you the opportunity to create, like a whole other tear of care plan with virtual patching. Right so it's actually a great opportunity to you know, upsell your care plan customer. There is no Black Friday deal on adding the patch stack firewall. Sorry about\r\n\r\nOkay, thank you, Chris. Oh, let's see here.\r\n\r\nStacy with me here. We go.\r\n\r\nOkay, something not related to patch stack at all.\r\n\r\nHere we go. Maybe a question I can answer. I am using the Easy Recipe plugin on four websites. This is a great plugin, by the way, isn't it?\r\n\r\nWe did it on a plugin roundup a while back and it's quite good. If you're doing a recipe site. Looks like the developer has a wall and this is showing up in the security logs. cross site scripting. Oh, look at that. I'm praising the plugin and there's an issue. Awesome. I'm all over it today.\r\n\r\nWell, I have to recreate each recipe. Here's the way to transfer. Ooh, that's no bueno. Okay.\r\n\r\nEasy Recipe has been a great plugin for a long time.\r\n\r\nLet's see if we can find some detail on this.\r\n\r\nAll right, so patch stack is saying it's a low priority. This is what I was talking about earlier. Right. So it's not currently known to be exploited.\r\n\r\nNo plugin is closed and is not awesome.\r\n\r\nWe get a link on this page.\r\n\r\nOh, we want to be able to set this is the other thing I really hate about when they pull a plug in\r\n\r\nbecause you can't now see any of the like when the last update was or any of that either.\r\n\r\nUm\r\n\r\nOkay, Stacy.\r\n\r\nYou want the good news or the bad news?\r\n\r\nOkay, the good news is you could put patch stack firewall on these and your patched. Also the good news is it's a low vulnerability, you know, a low level security issue that has not been exploited. You could just put patch stack over it and see if the developer resurfaces. Stacy is also saying the link takes to godaddy cell page okay, could be the developer just abandon the plugin altogether, which is not good.\r\n\r\nSome of these recipe plugins, import from one to the other. So if you decide you want to upgrade, I would look for a replacement that will allow you to upgrade from easy recipes.\r\n\r\nOtherwise\r\n\r\nyou may not be able to export an easy recipe but some of these other plugins might be able to import. You know how a lot of times the similar plugins will import I don't know if these exist for this application is not but yeah otherwise that's really not it's that's a problem.\r\n\r\nYeah\r\n\r\nit's the vulnerability has been around for a bit\r\n\r\nthe plugin was closed more than a month ago.\r\n\r\nSo\r\n\r\nyeah, I mean, this is the case where protect it with patch tech firewall or you gotta replace it. Yeah, it's not not a great thing.org says the update was six. Oh, really?\r\n\r\nWell, Stacy, there you go.\r\n\r\nMaybe this wasn't the plugin. I was thinking. If we did it six years ago. On a plugin Roundup, which is also possible.\r\n\r\nSo yeah, this is long out of date and likely abandoned by the developers. So this is probably no hope.\r\n\r\nYeah, that's bad news.\r\n\r\nYep, Melanie's got a great suggestion there. Everything's in the database, right so and import through the PL import. If you can match in or map fields from one plug into another, or quite frankly, the safest thing would be to make your own custom post type and just pull everything into that.\r\n\r\nSome of the I can't remember this recipe plugin. Some of them were really good about, like putting, you know, nutritional values and making little label things and all that kind of cool.\r\n\r\nAll right. Yeah, that's not not good.\r\n\r\nUnfortunately, Stacy, I wish I had a better prognosis for you.\r\n\r\nAll right, last but not least is Chris.\r\n\r\nOkay, Chris, tremendous amount of trouble with filters for a WooCommerce project work with this for three days and none of them work change filter, plugins, themes, everything nothing works. Filter show products.\r\n\r\nDidn't filter by anything trying to filter by category. Beaver Builder says something's wrong with the plugin integration.\r\n\r\nEven WordPress default filters don't work. Do you have\r\n\r\nis this the actual site\r\n\r\nChris?\r\n\r\nAlright, sounds like you have a JavaScript error.\r\n\r\nSome sort of JavaScript conflict. That's this is right even with the\r\n\r\nit's working for me is this not working for you?\r\n\r\nThe bottom\r\n\r\nit's working\r\n\r\nso these are matching for this one is matching six. Looks like it's working.\r\n\r\nNo console errors. Yeah, I mean, it looks like it's working.\r\n\r\nCongratulations, Chris. You fixed it.\r\n\r\nOh, it's not working for you.\r\n\r\nAll right. Everybody, go here. See if it works for you. We're about to crash Christmas server.\r\n\r\nYeah, could be a caching issue could also be a weird Google Chrome extension if you're in Chrome.\r\n\r\nYep, so bump that down and go to a guest profile and see if with a clean profile like that.\r\n\r\nYeah.\r\n\r\nYep.\r\n\r\nSo you're all good. Something weird. Caching happened there for you. It looks like\r\n\r\nyeah, good. It's working for everybody. Let's try it and report it back.\r\n\r\nAll right.\r\n\r\nAll right. We have one more question that just came in from Hillary who is not on the call, but asking questions. I love that. That's the first time we've had that happen. Okay, one more here.\r\n\r\nA client website is for a business network over the coming upcoming summer holiday here down under. They don't meet he wants members to be able to access a list of current members on the website in a page. Only they can access. He doesn't want and says he'll never want more functionality than that. Famous last words. The site is built with Kadence what's the simplest way to achieve this? Okay. The simplest way to achieve this is\r\n\r\nyeah, the password protect the page. Thank you, Paul. put a password on the page. Give your members the password.\r\n\r\nDone, problem solved. The other thing you could do is put the stuff out there and if he wants everybody to have a login, then make everybody a subscriber that's in the in the group and then just put the information in a row that only displays to logged in members. And you're you're good\r\n\r\nbut yeah, password protecting the page is the simplest like just a simple solution.\r\n\r\nAll right, everybody.\r\n\r\nThat wraps us up. So if you are in the States, Happy Thanksgiving, we are done for the rest of this week. We'll be back on Tuesday, and we are starting Tuesday, the monthly premium course, which is creating your Starter Site, which is one of my favorite courses of the year. So you guys are stuck with me for a couple of days next week as we build our starter sites together. Should be a lot of fun. All right, we'll see you Tuesday, here on the solid Academy where we go further together.","livestream_vimeo_video_id":887434011,"livestream-resources-group":"s:35:\"a:1:{s:6:\"_state\";s:9:\"collapsed\";}\";"}},"postCountOnPage":1,"postCountTotal":1,"postID":448445,"postFormat":"standard","geoCloudflareCountryCode":"US"}; dataLayer.push( dataLayer_content ); \nThis is a member’s only webinar that comes as part of your SolidWP membership.\n\n\n\n\nAsk a Question\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n","EventOrganizerNames":"Nathan Ingram","inline_featured_image":"","livestream_public":1,"is_multi-day_event":0,"livestream_replay_set":1,"livestream_zoom_registration_link":"https:\/\/us06web.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_hoEiSlLOThWt_w3B2IbuHA","livestream_chat_log":"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1mHh5E75ElqZGSx8GYB3WVFkYUHRDUFUR\/view?usp=sharing","livestream_live_transcript_url":"https:\/\/otter.ai\/u\/ig3KuZGV0Nmdb6JwXQA2LYZr0NU?utm_source=copy_url","livestream_live_transcript_text":"Captions going now\r\n\r\nall right.\r\n\r\nJust about ready to get started. All right, we'll see you Tuesday, here on the solid Academy where we go further together.","livestream_vimeo_video_id":887434011,"livestream-resources-group":"s:35:\"a:1:{s:6:\"_state\";s:9:\"collapsed\";}\";"}},"postCountOnPage":1,"postCountTotal":1,"postID":448445,"postFormat":"standard","geoCloudflareCountryCode":"US"}; dataLayer.push( dataLayer_content ); \nRegister once for all Office Hours October-December, 2023\n\n\n\nThis is a member’s only webinar that comes as part of your SolidWP membership.\n\n\n\n\nAsk a Question\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n","EventOrganizerNames":"Nathan Ingram","inline_featured_image":"","livestream_public":1,"is_multi-day_event":0,"livestream_replay_set":1,"livestream_zoom_registration_link":"https:\/\/us06web.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_hoEiSlLOThWt_w3B2IbuHA","livestream_chat_log":"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1mHh5E75ElqZGSx8GYB3WVFkYUHRDUFUR\/view?usp=sharing","livestream_live_transcript_url":"https:\/\/otter.ai\/u\/ig3KuZGV0Nmdb6JwXQA2LYZr0NU?utm_source=copy_url","livestream_live_transcript_text":"Captions going now\r\n\r\nall right.\r\n\r\nJust about ready to get started.
