Lesson 3: General Settings Overview

This video walks you through the LearnDash Settings tab, where you can configure global design, registration, payments, and advanced site features to tailor the learning experience to your brand and business needs.

General Settings

This is the first tab you’ll land on, and it controls the global design and content options. Here you can:

  • Customize key design elements like colors to match your theme.
  • Enable Focus Mode for a distraction-free learning environment.
  • Turn on LearnDash’s built-in login and registration functionality.
  • Upload your company logo.
  • Manage admin user settings.

Registration & Login

This tab lets you fully customize the user registration experience:

  • Modify registration fields (default fields include username, email, first name, last name, and password).
  • Configure the design and layout of registration and login pages.

Payments

LearnDash supports three built-in payment gateways:

  • PayPal
  • Razorpay
  • Stripe
Simply select your gateway, click Manage, and enter your credentials. You’ll also set your currency in this section.

Emails

Customize the email notifications your users receive, such as:

  • Course purchase confirmations
  • New user registration emails
You can also configure the sender name and email address for outbound LearnDash messages.

LMS License

Enter your account email and license key to activate LearnDash and receive updates and support.

Translations

While LearnDash is in English by default, it is fully translatable.

Visit our support documentation for step-by-step instructions on translating your site.

Support

The Support tab helps you quickly review settings, templates, and plugins:

  • Identify errors or issues (highlighted in red).
  • Share error details with LearnDash Support for faster troubleshooting.

Advanced

This section includes several power-user tools:

  • Bulk Edit: Make mass changes to courses, lessons, or groups.
  • Import/Export: Move courses between different LearnDash installations.
  • Custom Labels: Rename labels like “Courses” or “Lessons” globally across your site.
  • Data Upgrades: Do not use unless instructed by LearnDash Support.
  • REST API: Manage and customize API endpoints.
  • License Visibility: Control which admin users can view license and add-on details.

Why This Matters

The LearnDash Settings tab gives you full control over how your LMS looks, works, and connects with your learners. Taking time to configure these settings upfront helps streamline course delivery, improve user experience, and reduce future setup work.

Tip: Visit the Settings tab first after installing LearnDash to establish a strong foundation, then revisit specific tabs as you grow your courses and features.
