How to pay an invoice online with account credit

Let's review how to pay an invoice online using your Nexcess account credit.

Overview of account credit and invoices


If you are not sure yet what an invoice is, where to find yours, or how to pay an invoice online, an invoice is your bill for a service provided for you. For example, the invoice we are looking at for how to pay today is for services provided by Nexcess for your website hosting. How to view your Nexcess account billing invoices

Account credit is a balance on your Nexcess account that you may have received or earned in a couple of different ways. For example, you might have redeemed a promo code or earned credit via our affiliate program. The account credit is internal to Nexcess and is not something you can add to or re-load. This credit is only usable for paying your invoice online at Nexcess and is non-transferable.

You will be able to see if you have an account credit right on your homepage when you log in:

You can also go to Billing > Credits to see your account credit. Or you can click on the arrow in the upper right corner of the Credits box on your account home page to see your credit details.

If you have credits, they will be shown on the Credits screen:

How to pay an invoice online with account credit step-by-step

Now that you are signed in, you are ready to pay your invoice online. Follow these steps below.

  1. On the left side of the screen, click on Billing:

  1. When you click on Billing, it should take you directly to the Invoices page in your account, with the option of going to other locations within your account. If you need to go back for any reason, simply click on Back to Home at the top of the menu:

  1. Once on the Invoices page, click on either the invoice name (highlighted in blue and underlined) or the three dots to the right of the invoice, and then click on View. You may also download your invoice even after it has been paid. You can always view or download your invoice(s) at any time in this section of your account. Observe the Download menu option in the user interface as shown in the screenshot above.

  1. From within the invoice you are viewing, click on Pay Now in the upper right-hand corner of your invoice:

From this window, select the dropdown menu under Credit Card. Then select the dropdown menu under Payment Method and select Apply Credit.

Your available balance will be in parentheses in the dropdown menu, for example: Apply Credit ($22.45 Available). Please note that your dropdown menu may look different based on your operating system or browser settings:

  1. Once you have filled out the form using your account credit, click Pay in the lower right corner of the popup window. This action will close the window and return you to your invoice:
