Email management for a Nexcess Managed WordPress site involves two separate components: transactional emails sent by the WordPress application itself, and standard email hosting for mailboxes at your domain.

  1. Transactional Emails: These are messages generated by your website, such as password reset links, new user notifications, and contact form submissions. For reliable delivery, these should be configured to send via an external SMTP service rather than the server’s default mail function.
  2. Email Hosting (Mailboxes): Our Managed WordPress platform is a specialized environment highly optimized for website performance and does not include email hosting by default. To create email accounts like contact@yourdomain.com, you must use a dedicated email hosting service, which can be purchased as an add-on or from a third-party provider.
