Cloud Private Network
Learn to set up Cloud Private Networking for secure, internal traffic between Liquid Web servers, saving bandwidth and improving security.
Introduction
Use our Private Networking feature to create a secure connection between all your Cloud VPS and Cloud Metal servers, no matter where they are located. This internal network allows you to transfer data between servers without using public internet bandwidth, enhancing both security and efficiency.
Benefits of Using Private Networking
- Cost Efficiency: Avoids public bandwidth charges by keeping internal traffic off the internet.
- Enhanced Security: Transfer data securely over private networks, avoiding exposure to external threats.
- Improved Performance: Faster data transfer rates due to reduced latency within the data center.
Step-by-step Instructions
Setting up Cloud Private Networking in your my.liquidweb.com account is a simple process.
- Log into your my.liquidweb.com account with your username and password, or sign in with Google SSO.
- Click on Network in the left menu, then click on Cloud Private Network.
- The Cloud Private Network page lists your attached servers and any servers that are available to add.

- Use the Attach Selection and Detach Selection button, along with the check boxes beside the server names, to add or remove Cloud VPS, Cloud Metal, or Private VPS parent servers from the Cloud Private Network. Click Continue to save changes.
Moving a server in or out of the Cloud Private Network will trigger a reboot of the server to apply the networking changes.
- You can find the private IP address for each server listed directly above its name in the Attached Servers’ list. Use this IP address for firewall and networking configurations between your servers.
Best Practices
- Utilize VPN connections when accessing private networks remotely to add an extra layer of encryption and authentication.
- Monitor network traffic regularly using tools like Wireshark or tcpdump for any unusual activity that may indicate a breach attempt.
