Liquid Web Inc is a rapidly expanding web hosting company which currently operates three Data Centers in the Lansing area.  We have continued to make major expansions into the managed dedicated and virtual private server markets.  While the majority of our operations are Linux-based, we are continuing to expand in the Windows managed hosting market. We are accepting applications for Customer Support Technicians to work directly at our Lansing, MI Data Centers.          

Job Duties:

• Provide professional and friendly support consistently via telephone and electronic help desk
• Troubleshoot and solve a wide range of customer support issues from basic to complex
• System monitoring and response
• Operating system and application installation/configuration
• Performing scheduled maintenance tasks

Skill Requirements:

• Solid working knowledge of RPM based Linux Distributions
• Solid working knowledge of Windows Server 2000/2003
• Experience with Apache, BIND, and IIS preferred
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to work in a team based environment
• Ability to work flexible hours
• One year previous experience preferred
• Ability to work at our Lansing, MI Data Center required

Responsibilities:

Systems Engineers work within a team to design, prototype, test, and implement internal systems and customer facing products. Quite often these systems are fundamental parts of larger, more complex systems. They are also responsible for continuous improvement of previously engineered systems through feedback and issue escalation.

Requirements:

• Wide range of hardware, software, and networking experience.
• Ability to design complex solutions that are performant and cost effective.
• Proficient in bash scripting and Perl.
• Experience with systems architecture development methods and version control systems.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly explain the benefits of an architectural approach.

Systems Engineer / VMware

Liquid Web is seeking VMWare Expert, VMware Engineer, or VMWare Infrastructure Engineers to join our Lansing, Michigan and Scottsdale, Arizona teams. Liquid Web is a leader in hosting products and data center operations. We are seeking a VMWare Expert to build a Private Cloud hosting product that will accommodate hundreds to thousands of customers over in the next year. Liquid Web is seeking a highly skilled individual that has experience taking a complete product to market including: design, testing, implementation and deployment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and deploying highly available custom VMWare solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy high availability VMWare based configurations
• Work with sales and marketing teams to identify product requirements from customers and prospects
• Help a team of "Systems Engineers" and "Support Technicians" to support customers using the VMWare based product
• Develop documentation to help support managed customer configurations
• Work with management to identify product strategy, product pricing, product opportunities and ongoing VMWare product related development

Requirements:

• VMware VCP or higher certification
• Very high level of proficiency with VMware
• Experience technically leading and executing VMware specific tasks, including P2V Migrations
• Exceptional ESXi Datacenter setup and troubleshooting abilities
• Familiarity with VMware ESXi best practices and policies
• Experience in technically overseeing and executing large-scale datacenter-size P2V migrations (including dealing with technology owners / application owners, setting up physical hardware, working with VMware technical support as-needed, and reading documentation and processes provided by other groups.)
• High level of proficiency with Storage Area Networks (EquaLogic, DRBD, etc.)
• Administration of VMware Infrastructure solutions
• Participate in or conduct project management activities

Senior Software Developer

Liquid Web Inc. is looking for an experienced Perl developer with system level development experience or strong system administration knowledge to help develop new hosting products and improve existing ones. Job duties will include working with System Engineers to develop software for products, and integrating them into existing systems, such as Billing, Helpdesk, and Monitoring. The successful candidate will be able to write clean and modular code, communicate effectively with team members as project requirements evolve, and produce software that delivers end results.

• Assist in the planning, development, testing, debugging, documenting and deploying of our internal software.
  • - Gather requirements and plan for future software development.
  • - Develop structured code that is easy to use, reliable, and maintainable.
  • - Develop testing procedures, and use those procedures for verifying software development.
  • - Help with the software debugging process. (Verifying, recording, patching, communicating).
  • - Provide adequate documentation for other developers and users.
  • - Deploy software in a 24/7 environment with minimal impact.
    
• Work primarily on development, but also perform DBA tasks and systems administration duties as needed.
• Provide support for internal operations.
• Help develop tools needed to integrate new products into our systems.

Requirements:

• Proficient in Perl, and OO Perl Techniques.
• Experience developing relational databases.
• System administration or Systems development with strong Linux/Unix familiarity.
